As I was deleting old documents, I found this little ditty that I wrote sometime ago and forgot about.....yeah, I'm on the way, but here it is.....

"The Steeler's Prayer"

Before I lay me down to snooze
I'll say this prayer, instead of booze

we thank you Lord
for this here guitar
that we play with picks
and a chromed metal bar

Two picks, three picks
chrome or stainless
choosing anything for this beast
is anything but painless

give thanks for Emmons
and the late Jimmy Day
without their set ups
what would we play?

For all of the builders
We give special thanks
For pedals and levers
pull rods and bellcranks

and for all of the players
advanced and beginner
we wouldn't need special seats
if most of us were thinner

and last but not least
we would all die of boredom
if it weren’t for this Steel Guitar Forum

So please Dear Lord
don't tell the wife
that I yearn for another
guitar in my life

I promise to be righteous
saintly and kind
and if you could throw in an amp
I certainly wouldn't mind

Amen

Oh Lord.

This steel has so many pedals.

And my foot is so small.

I have posted this one before--
I wrote it several years ago.

My "Steeler's Prayer"
Dear Lord,

As I travel about with picks and slide-

Lord help me to play and my mistakes to hide-

As the strings of life stretch and break-

Help me to make music like you would make-

As I argue with my amp and try to tune-

Lord help me make sure I'm in tune with you-

Someday in Heaven, When a harp I receive-

Just give me one with pedals-
Right next to Big E's.

If you were of the Roman Catholic Faith, you
would have to go to confession and tell the
priest of all of your sins.

The priest would then bless you and ask you to say "hail mary's" for each sin you commited. And there is no telling the priest anything but the truth.

How many "hail mary's" would you have to say
for all the guitars you own? 300 ? 400?
and say a prayer for your Fender amp as well
So be happy you are not Catholic.

I'll pray for your Fender amp.

Father Carver. The Pope's sideman.
