This wouldn't be the old Georges round-up would it?

Hey Joe,
George's Roundup was on Pacific Coast Highway between the Long Beach and Terminal Island Freeways.

Hey Twangman,
Who's in the band with you? Are they any of the old guys or some of the new breed? That's close to where I played on South st. at the old DJ Ranch for a couple of years. Mike Perlowin played at the club right next door at a club who's name I can't remember now. That was in the early 80's or so. Have a great one and I'm glad you're still active and keepin' the tradition alive out there.......Later dude, JH

Jerry's right, George's Round Up was a great classic country night club on PCH in Long Beach. Ah, the good old days. I was taking lessons from Blackie Taylor in Hawaiian Gardens, and hanging at George's enjoying Bobby Boyd's classic, wonderful playing on his red Sho-Bud tuned to D9. I learned to love Jack Daniels there.

Jerry, all the bandmates are new to me, we're mostly playing current cover material, still good players and fun, but they wouldn't know Ray Price if he put a key in their mailbox!

Your old club, DJ Ranch, changed into a strip bar about 3 years ago. Its neighbor, the Country Comfort, is now a neighborhood sports bar, mostly African-Americans there now. Miss the good old days there, I started about 3 bands in that humble dive. And also had the pleasure of working with Pete Anderson there long before he met Dwight; and having Bruce Bouton sit in one night (he was a pal of our guitarist).

Anyway, hope some of you Los Angeles pickers can make it down, I'm way better than Jay Dee Maness, so it'll be worth your while...joking, folks! JD is my hero, and I think he and Bobby Black are two of the finest players on the Left Coast. Me, I just do what I can, but I try awfully hard. I'm trying to be the George Harrison of pedal steel. Tall order!

The place that John's working at now use to be the old Silver Bullet two blocks away from DJ's. The guy that used to run it was a textbook variety prick-ly club owner. I hear the new guy is fairly cool.

John...I can't make it this week, but maybe one of theses times when youre there on a weeknight again. Watch out for old Jack.
