Jody Carver and his Fender Custom triple.

Jody Carver accepting his induction into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

A touching moment - Jody acknowledging the support of his wife Marilyn. (My personal favorite of all the pictures I took at the Convention)

Jody & Marilyn (with some of their friends) at "The Wall" where Jody's Plaque will be added to the other HOF members.

Gene,

The real highlights for Laurie and me were finally meeting you, Jody, Marilyn and Smiley in person. And, folks, that is "Oklahoma Cowboy" Gene Jones standing at Jody's right. Jody, your ugly mug finally made it to that great wall where it belongs.

Gene-Thank you for the pictures.

I am so glad that Jody and Marilyn made it down there and that he got the tribute that was so well deserved.

I wish I could have been there just to see Jody, you and Roy and all my friends that attended..........al

I added a picture to this thread showing Jody's "enclosed" Fender Custom triple that he played on his set, so am "bumping" one more time.

Donna: That is a BEAUTIFUL tribute to Jody and Marilyn! How sweet of you to do this for them.

Jody: I just wanted to you know that I was so honored to meet you finally and meet the "better half" of you too! LOL Mailyn is everything I thought she would be too and more. You played wonderful Jody. You can still do those "hot licks". The only mistake you made was NOT getting me my autographed CD! You had BETTER get on the ball! You and Marily are all I thought you both would be and more. We love you. Stay in touch! Laurie

Congratulations, Jody. Your induction to the Hall of Fame is long overdue, and provides the perfect backdrop to the re-release, after such a long struggle, of that amazing Hot Club album. Live long and well, my friend. You're an inspiration to us all.

Great shots. Village Barn all over again? Jody, Bless your Mom and Pop and Chet Atkins, and Johnny Cucci, and Leo Fender, and Arthur Godfrey and Vaughn Monroe, and an all day Sinatra show complete with Meatball sangwiches! Nothing like a wideface Twin and a Custom on a stand to make the crowd get up and dance! Oh and that silly hat!!! What were you back then an Austrian Mountian Climber? Or that "Little Old Wine Maker Me"
Like the song says, "Are the good days really over for good"?

Donna, do you have a shot of Jody's "badge" that I can read the inscription on?

Donn-Just wonderful! Jody and Marily are a great looking couple. Jody showed them how we did it in those days, without pedals. And I know he did it with Class as he is a first class man.....al

Congratulations Jody!
I was so happy to hear you were inducted, I was almost speachless.

I was looking for you most of the show, and finally gave up and went to dinner Saturday evening, and low and behold, who sits down a table or two off, but Mr and Mrs Carver themselves.

When I introduced myself, and you realized who I was, we got on like a house on fire. I was very pleased we got a good hour of time sitting and gabbing together, not a 3 minute shake / talk / shake and walk like happens so often at these shows.

And it was so nice Marilyn was up to being there for your induction too.
I could see in her eyes it was one of her happiest moments ever.

You have done more than you realize for the steel world, and this is a well deserved recognition.

Best of luck to you and yours
David Donald

I want to thank each and every one of you for being so nice to Marilyn and myself. I didnt spend as much time as I would have liked as I was having pain from the crown that broke while eating a boneless chicken sandwich at Wendey's a day earlier on my way to St.Louis. I couldnt find an orthodontist to do root canal so I ate tylenol all during the show.

I did get to spend some time with David and we had a nice chat. A classy fellow with much knowledge and finess.

As you are aware, Marilyn has not been well for some time and she was in much pain during
the show in St.Louis.

I tried very hard to play my best but my emotions got the best of me just thinking of what the future holds for us.

I really lost it when I introduced Marilyn to all of you after my award was presented to
me, you can see by the photo that I was hurting.

I promised myself I would not play in St.Louis again, not because I dont want to but because I am afraid of the memories that have been etched in my mind as I watched Marilyn in much pain put her arms around me and mine around hers. That was a touching moment for me. 50 years is a long time to love someone as wonderful as she is.

I am sorry that Howard R and Mike Black were
not there, they may have been able to help support me better than I did myself.

Thanks again to all of you and Donna Dodd,,I cant wait to see that photo you took of Marilyn and myself, I will treasure that as long as I live.

If God spares maybe sometime if I am asked,I will come back to St.Louis regardless if I am
asked to play or not. Just meeting those of you that I did made it all worthwhile.

Our situation here is day to day and I ask God to give us both as much time as he can.

I have to go now, but I'll be seeing all of you again someday.

My Best to all of you and you have been wonderful to us and we will never forget anyone of you.

David..would have liked to have spent more time with you, but the waiter wanted to go home.

You are a great bunch of people and I even got to meet bOb Lee the last day as I was checking out. Good meeting you bOb and thanks for your patience with me and my "antics" you are a fine man. I dont think you will need the locks to lock me up anymore
I promise to be a good boy...My best to Joey
Ace and Donna Dodd and Brad Bechtel as well and to all you fine people..It was my pleasure to meet you all...sorry I played so
poorly, but I hope you understand.

With all of our love to ya'll and special thanks to Bob Maickel a friend for over 55 years.

Jody and Marilyn..oops I said that before

Bye for now.

Best

Jody edited to say to David...meet you on 48th street one of these days and I'll bring Howard R along That would be a blast.
