I think he had fifty years of playing with the Old Commander.

Way to go Bobby "Blue" Black.

Mr. Black, My congrats on an honor well deserved.

IMHO, a Master of style and a major influence to a generation of steel players too.

Bobby,

Until I met you at the convention I only knew you by name and reputation as one of the "greats" from my era. Your performances confirmed all of the good reports I had heard about you. My sincere congratulations on your having been inducted into the International Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame.

Also,in David Wrights pic, that's Bobby's brother Larry on the far right. I've enjoyed much of their twin playing over the years. Congrats Bobby!!

Hi Bobby,
Sorry I missed it. You are certainly one of the greats, and have been an inspiration to all of us in Northern California. You are also one of the warmest and most humble guys around, and always have nice things to say to me. Your picking with Commander Cody influenced a generation and your playing with the Black Brothers and Don Cox set the standard for guys around here like Pete Grant, David Phillips, Greg Lasser, Gary Potterton, Dave Ristrim and myself (and I'm sure I'm omitting many). Thanks for everything, especially the hot licks. Also hi to Ann Fabian and Carter Guitars. Thanks for supporting Bobby so well.

I wore out my Commander Cody live record trying to cop Bobby's great licks. He really
has a personal style that sets his playing
apart. Many players deserve to be honored but
none more than Bobby Black.
