Since posting on this topic in a different sub-section, I have received serveral emails asking for details, so I might as well make it public. Redd Volkaert and Dallas Wayne will be performing at the Old Town School Of Folk Music on June 19, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Details are at http://www.oldtownschool.org/ under "Performances" This is part of a series of concerts being produced by Robbie Fulks, who will also be there and likely sit in for a song or two if Redd lets him This is the finest venue in Chicago to see a concert, IMHO. I do not believe Redd is expected to have a steel player, but he sounds like one by himself, so it doesn't matter. I am "sponsoring" this concert for the school, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I should be able to get you good seats. This is on father's day, so let your wife and kids know what they can get you to help you celebrate! ------------------ |

I'm bumping this up to add that Joe Goldmark will be appearing with Redd and Dallas, so this will be one heck of a twangin' evenin'!! Don't miss it! ------------------ |

I bought my tix about six months ago. After moving from Austin to Chicago last fall, I went from catching Redd and Ricky about once a week to NOTHING, so I've had serious withdrawals. Now it looks like we're moving to Lafayette, LA in August so I'll be able to make the drive every month or so. If you live within 200 miles of Chicago and have never seen Redd, do yourself a favor and get in town this Sunday! |

Great show last night, awsome playing and some great comedy too!! Redd, Dallas, Joe Goldmark and Robbie Fulks all sounded fantastic, they had a great drummer also. Thanks to Ken for his efforts on this show!! |

Everyone was in really fine form, and that was just the humor! The playing was fantastic. It was a real treat to see all those guys playing together; Joe did a great job, and yes, that drummer was really on the mark, with i imagine only a soundcheck to rehearse! I didn't speak to Redd, unfortunately, but that's okay since he probably already thinks of me as a stalker from ego's in austin. I'd go every week to catch him and ricky davis wailing away. Man I miss those days! if you missed Redd and Dallas, you can catch them at Fitzgerald's on July 1st and 2nd. [This message was edited by John Troutman on 20 June 2005 at 10:01 AM.] |

Yeah, the hubby and I went to see the guys last night and once again, I sat in amazement, grinning from ear to ear listening to the band. Joe Goldmark sounded great - it was nice hearing him again. I LOVE Dallas Wayne's cool baritone voice and the songs he sings. Robbie Fulks is quite a talented one too, and they picked a fine drummer for the night as well. LAST but NOT least, Redd Volkaert. My favorite tele player. I found it funny that everytime the solo sections came around, he'd always give everyone else a turn first. Not quite sure if that was mostly out of politeness, or music-monster-honeryness. Probably a little bit of both. There's nothing like his playing. What a unique, funny, talented musician Redd is. Can't wait to hear him again in a few weeks at Fitzgerald's. |

Man, what a GREAT show!!! It was also great to meet you, Dyke, Chrissy and Ed. Thanks so much for helping out. That's what I love about this forum. To watch a group of professionals joke, get re-acquainted, laugh, and pick some INCREDIBLE stuff in front of a bunch of people interested in watching the same thing was just a real treat. Redd gave Dyke a plug for bringing the amps (for Joe and Redd) up from Champaign. I tried to get Dyke to part with his Webb amp, but he refused. I should have bought him more beer. Robbie Fulks played the whole show with them (a rarity for these Secret Country shows) and his interview lasted almost an hour (the longest for any show, ever). I split a gut before the first bar of the first intro. This is all on XM satellite radio, for those of you with a unit... and I'm gonna go buy me one right now!! P.S., not only are Redd and Dallas playing Fitzgerald's on July 1-2, but Lloyd Maines is playing at the Old Town School (with Terri Hendrix) on Oct 28!! Send me an email if you're interested in that one. ------------------ |

When and where will Redd be in Dallas? I want to come visit with Joe Goldmark. He always comes to our shows in San Francsico. |

Thanks for the show Ken ,it was really a fun evening. I especially like Joe Goldmark playing his Zum on those very up-tempo tunes. Ed PS: Last time I saw Lloyd & Terri at the Hideout he played lap steel & dobro. Do you know if he is bringing his PSG out for this show? |
