I thought I'd make sure people are aware of this opportunity for some really good dobro instruction. The California Bluegrass Association is holding its annual music camp from June 12th to June 15th. Ivan Rosenberg will be teaching an "advanced beginner" dobro class. Sally Van Meter will be teaching an intermediate level dobro class. There are still openings in both classes. From personal experience, I know that Ivan is an excellent teacher. He's very experienced, organized and has good insight into playing. The workshop I took from him last year made a big difference in my playing. The camp is arranged with the dobro class in the morning. In the afternoon there are elective class on topics such as singing, songwriting, critical listening, specific topics on various instruments, etc. There are also slow jams and regular jams. It is definitely bluegrass oriented, but I think people interested in other styles won't feel out of place. I think it's a real bargin ($365 including food). For more information you can go here: http://www.cbamusiccamp.org/ You can also contact me if you want to hear more details of my experience at the camp. |

I second that. Ivan is an outstanding teacher, a fine player, and has a great sense of humor. We had a workshop here in Sonoma County with him last December. I would like to take Sally's class but I'm not going to be able to take the time away from work. Another cool thing is that Todd Clinesmith will have a booth at the festival. He built a beaustiful maple resonator guitar for me last year-he is one of the best in the business. You can play his guitars-but be forewarned-you'll probably want to order one! ------------------ [This message was edited by Mark Eaton on 05 May 2005 at 10:22 AM.] |
