I'm proud to say that,on New Year's Eve,the 52nd anniv. of the death of Hank Williams,I'll be doin' the Grand Ole Opry w/ his daughter,Jett Williams. She is scheduled to be on the 7 to 8 (central time) portion. It is possible that this will be the televised portion. Dunno yet.

After that,we will be doing the "Midnight Jamboree" from the E.T. Record Shop.

This is quite an honor for me,since I was,& still am,a BIG Hank Williams fan. Even more of an honor is that,I'll be taking Don Helms' place as steeler for this show. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Wish me luck.

Seriously, I'm really glad to hear it! I'm playing that night, but I'll definately toast your performance at some point in the evening.

They usually archieve those Midnight Jamboree performances on their website. I'll be sure to check it out when they do.

Sounds like a great gig, especially for a Hank Sr fan. What happened to Uncle Don?

Hey Smiley,

Great news, I'm proud for ya. It has been 20+ years since I worked the Opry and it is something I hope to get another chance to do. Sometimes we see alot of Opry bashing on this forum (sometimes for very good reason), but it's still the Opry, and to some of us old guys who spent many nights there, that still means alot. I'll be playin' Saturday night, but I will certainly watch the reruns. Have fun, I wish I could be there with you.

See ya soon,
Jim

Well, if that don’t beat all! Besides turning the radio ON too late to catch the beginning of the 8 o'clock portion and it not being Televised, which I can’t see eitherp; for some reason or other the Opry wasn't even aired on WSM after 9 pm.! So, I didn’t/couldn’thear the 2nd. show either! What the heck is going on anyway? _ _ _ _ Smiley; You didn’t Jinx-The-Works, did you? I’m thoroughly disgusted with the whole deal and also disappointed! I hope the E.T.R.S. doesn’t crap-out too!

Was it foresite or just stupidity on my part? The E.T.R.S. did end early at 12:45 am, but; Smiley was introduced as the ‘Newest Drifting Cowboy’! Maybe I should recheck all my clocks! I must be missing something, somewhere!

Hey Smiley...I know the Opry wasnt Telivised but I hope the Jamboree went to air on radio...Big John says you were introed as the newest drifting cowboy...which is an honour....and I hope you wore the hat that Lyn and I gave to you so that every one could listen to it on the radio
See Ya
