WEll I bought one for myself to redo and bring back to life. It is a beautiful two-tone Professional with "Wine colored" aprons and necks> Once I recovered the Finish..ah..ha. Those are Bill Lawrence 705's in there and 8 pedals 4 knee levers...and she is a dream in every way.. Again; the changer fingers worked alright when I got it...but that old grease in there makes for less mobility that you would'nt notice unless you take the changer fingers out and clean and polish..>is what I did....and the action is as smooth as any steel I've played. I basically took this whole ShoBud apart and cleaned and polished every piece of metal...and my 4 part waxing/polishing brings out the beautiful Birdseye Maple body and necks. This is a 33 year old ShoBud...brought back to life and I plan on continuing the History by playing this ShoBud everychance I get...yeeee haaa...enjoy the eye-candy. Ricky |

Hey Ricky, congrats, she looks absolutely gorgeous. I too feel that you should have a beautiful ShoBud for yourself. I hope I´ll be able to find one of those, too; I practically have the money together by now but it´s kinda difficult from over here, you know.Enjoy, Joe |

Ricky, That's a beautiful steel.I have one just like it all apart, but yours has nicer wood grain than mine. Maybe one day I'll get it back together. I have a soft spot for old Sho-Buds. |

Real nice. I'll trade two cajun queens, a one eyed mule name boudeaux, a pirogue with two or three (I can't remember to good) shotgun blast holes in the bottom, a 45lb sack of boiled crawfish(with the boiled Corn & taters),1/2 jug of 190 proof swamp juice left. over after New Years Day( good thing we give up drinking day after Christmas 'cept for the sickness and other fevers, and last but not least the 5 lbs of boudin Paw Paw Piere could'nt eat cause of his hy-suspension(high blood pressure). If thats not enough stuff call on that new email thing and we'll hassell( you know haggle): ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) ------------------ Daniel J. Ok, Ok Ricky....very nice!(but you already knew that ) Give it up bro, what IS your 4 part waxing-polishing technique? Here's another one fer ya: Is it sacriligous to re-laquer an old Bud if the finish is down to raw wood? (like between the 2 necks on mine?)BTW, LOVE that vertical KL on your Blue Baby! |

Hey thanks ALOT ya'll> kinda makes all the hard work worth while...to see history come back full steam ahead. Jay...it came from a Pawn shop with those pickups on it...and I'll take those (hard to find 705's) over the originals anyday...cause I cannot record with originals in.....toooo noisey. Roger> get on it man...do it...!!! Rick S. I don't believe its bad to refinish if there is NO finish left....but basically I don't believe in re-finishing...mainly cause if you strip the old finish off..you loose some of the original color stain...and I don't want that...>so I bring out the old finish by this process here> quote: and I'm just copying and pasteing what I just sent 15 other guys that wondered the same thing...ha....So here it is. -------------------------------- Get soapy water....and wipe clean the guitar... Than Dry very well with soft cloth. Now get a polishing wax....and wipe on .....and let set up and dry....than wipe off with clean soft cloth. Than get a polishing oil(like "old english" furniture polishing oil) and it will condition the finish and wax that is now in the finish...cause the wax will bring out the finish....and the polishing oil will condition it.....so wipe it on ...and let sit for a hour....than wipe with clean rag. Now the finish/wood should feel pretty dang good...almost kinda silky wet...even though it's not. Now get some good guitar polish and wipe on and let dry and wipe off.....then last thing is a good furniture polish like Pledge....and wipe on and wipe off.......and you now have a beautiful glossy look to the finish that was there.....but hibernating.
Really guys ya'll are too kind...and this is my side passion...as I love to see old ShoBud's come back to life and live on and I've been doing it for other guys for a while now...so thought I would do one for myself....and I LOVE THIS SHOBUD!!! Ricky |

Ricky, ever try 3M's Finesse It II? It's a 'swirl remover' type liquid, but it works wonders to take out small scratches, and the 'hazy' type effect from rubbing against a shirt etc. Amazing stuff, just abrasive enough to do a golass like polish, yet gentle enough not to cause 'rub throughs'. Stuff ain't cheap, at like $10-12 for a 16oz bottle, but it will last ya a LONG time. |

Hey Gino; that sounds interesting....I'll have to look into that...ummmm. Leon...HEy White fret boards wood LOOK Great on this steel >hey anybody got some...???yeaaah riiiight... ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif) Thanks ya'll.....and I played it last night and today at sound check at the Houston Rodeo....and Last night I had to tweek on her for several songs..ha(didnt' back off some of the barrel tuners enough when I put them back in>common mistake)...but she settled in very nicely...and today setting her up and playing ...it was all there like a dream come true...and I doubt the tuning will float ever again on the changes...ah..ha... And ONE MORE dream come true...Amazingly This Shobud(first I've seen) has ZERO drop...I pushed the pedals when I first strug her up...and there is NO drop in the 4th string E....NONE>NOT even a hint...and I use a wound 6th string...so no drop there when "A" pedal is pushed...but that normal for a wound 6th...yeee haaa. ...and like Jeff Peterson metioned in another post(which I always new..ha) it is the Axle that fits the tightest is the ones with less drop...and the axle on this E9 neck is nice and snug...and therefore ZERO drop...yeeee haaa again. Oh and she sounds WONDERFUL...and I asked Dale: "how does this bud sound"...he said: "Sounds like a ShoBud"...ah...ha...I said: "AMEN to that". Ricky |
