I have a Sho-Bud Maverick S10 3+1 that I'm setting up for a friend(lefty),that plays a mean blues guitar and would like some ideas.

I think that the stock copedent for a Sho-Bud Maverick is something like this:

I have one that only has two pedals and one knee lever (LKL!), and this is how I tune it:

That's pretty specialized, though. If he's really a blues player, he would probably enjoy the Sacred Steel E7 tuning:

He is really a pretty good blues player thats intrested in PSG/slide,plays great bottleneck Stevey Ray Vaughn style. I think I may go with sacred steel,is this the one Robert R uses? ------------------

Robert Randolph plays 13 strings with lots of pedals and knee levers. The copedent above is a subset of what he uses. It should get your guy started in that direction, though.
I just occurred to me that it might be sort of tricky putting a lower on a pedal on a Maverick. You might have to swap p3 and the knee lever. That doesn't compromise the tuning much, but having the E to F# on a lever has some real advantages.------------------

I have a neck set up on my D-10 that might be of interest, I use it for exactly the type of blues playing you are discussing.Its a G6 tuning EGBDEGBDEG, which can also be thought as E minor pentatonic. If the guy is used to playing slide on a standard tuned guitar, strings 2457 on this tuning are identical to 1234 on the 6 string guitar. I then add a single lever G-G#, which transforms it to a E7 tuning E-G#-B-D-E-G#-B-D-E-G. Here's a thread on it
http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/004545.html Key pedals would raise G to A for the 5th pentatonic note, D to Es, B to Cs, and E to Fs. The G-G# lever is really cool, gives smooth sliding thirds like the F lever does on E9, or for that matter the C-C# on the typical C6 tuning. Its certainly not for everyone, but might work for him. You will need to use a meantone tuning for the G6 "side" and E7 "side" to both be in tune, email me for the offsets if interested, have to get them out of the tuner.
