Does anybody here use a G6 tuning?I'm interested in setting up a 10 string 5&5 steel to a G tuning. Since I'm more familiar with 6&8 string non pedal G tunings, I'm thinking that this is something that I can play right "out of the gate." Any suggestions and experience. Thanks much.

Howard,Have you looked at Herb Remmington's A6th pedal steel set up in the tunings section? I only play non-pedal, but I didn't want you to end up without any replies. Keith |

Here's an idea that uses a lot of the concepts of the C6th, transposed to G.------------------

Here's another idea. It's a G major, with the same sort of changes you would find on an E9th. It also has the so-called "chromatic" strings of the E9th, and a good range:

I like this idea. I believe that it gives me just about everything that I've been looking for.Gmaj9, G9, or Gmaj7/9?

I guess that technically it's a Gmaj9, but I'd just call it G.If it's not too stiff, it would be a good idea to raise the middle G to A on P4 along with the other two changes. I'm not super confident about LKR or P1, but all of the other changes are real sound theory-wise. Plus it gives you your old familiar G major on strings 4 thru 9. Send me a picture when you get the guitar, Howard. ------------------
