I recently added a LKV to my Fessenden.I was going to lower my 5-10(1/2),but raised my 7(F#-G)instead.Does anyone have that change on their LKV?-Thanks,Jim |

I raise the 7th string a half-tone, but I do it on lkr (I lower the e's on rkl). It's a handly little change, though kind of limited. I wouldn't trade the standard lkv for it though - since I have had that change I have used it more and more. |

Jim,Raising the 7th string from an F# to a G has been used in several places over the years. The first place I saw it was on RKL where both 1 and 7 were raised from F# to a G. It was called the G lever then. But others raised them on LKV. Until they started lowering 5 and 10 a half a tone. And most put that on LKV now. Then They moved the 1 and 7 raise to RKL. When Buddy came out with the G# to F# change on the 6th string, most dropped the F# to G raise on the 7th string on RKL and added Buddy's change here. In fact that is prettly much standard now. Raising just string 7 I have not personally seen. I am thinking it might be a good idea to raise both 1 and 7 on your LKV. And since these changes are used mostly with A and/or B down, the pedals serve as a solid point to push against. Rather than have to push against the floor or worse lift your leg. But try it with just the one, ya might jes lack it  carl |

LKV raising F#'s to G's ( string 1 and 7) makes perfect hamonic sense.
If you've depressed pedals A and B, raising the F#'s to G's gives you a 7th chord.
Also- as Carl points out- It's much easier to activate a vertical knee lever if you're pressing pedals.

Yes Jim I raise both my F#s to G# with my RKL, and lower my 6st a whole tone and my 3rd a half tone on me LKV

I've had that pull for many years. I mostly use it with pedals down for a 7th chord, so it's a good candidate for LKV. Your toe on the pedals will give you the leverage (no pun intended) to push the vertical.
I don't have it on LKV, though. I put it on the lever that lowers the second string. That works out well, since I rarely use those strings together.------------------
