Johnny,

I just got your Ballads, Shuffles, & Swing CD.
Great CD, folks. Do you use Curley Chalker's C6 copedent on that album, and if so, is it anything like this?

Drew, sorry for the delay. I actually used Curly's MCI on a three cuts on that record. It was the setup you posted. I used my guitar on a couple but don't remember the setup I had that week. Glad you enjoyed the CD.

Pedal 10 lowered the first string ( E ) by a whole-tone to D rather than two tones to C.

Russ-you spotted it right.
Drew that must have been a misprint on your chart.
That is a whole tone drop to D.on Pedal 10. It not only gets him a Major7th, like E9 top two strings D# and F#, but it gives the same sound in C that you get on E9 raising the D# to E and the F# to G# only start with 10 pedal down, then release, just the opposite of that pull on E9....I don't want to get into it more deeply now, it is late and time to hit the sack.....al

I don't mean to start a debate but on Curly's two verticals, they both raise the As to A#. One raises the 1st or E to F the other lowers the E to Eb. When both are pressed the E stays the same and just the A is raised giving a 7th.
I snuck under his Sho-Bud when he wasn't around and found this out when it was supposed to be a big secret.

Gary, you're absolutely correct!
And observant.
I didn't catch that when I
noticed the Pedal Ten error.
I 'snuck under there' too, 'back in the day' when he was on MSA. Ha, ha!

I had Curly’s complete C6 Setup (7 & 4 or 5 k's) on my first Franklin in 1980.

Looks like Curly, with his two up KL's, could go from a sus4 to a 7th to a 6th.
