Has anyone ever hear of Chord Progression Studies for the Pedal Steel Guiutar by Fred Layman. If so, is it worth getting and, if so, where is it available?

Thanks,

Brian

Hay Brian, I happen to have a copy. Bought it many years ago and found it to be pretty informative. Don't know where you can find a copy these days though. Hopefully one of our fellow forumites might have one and is willing to part with it. Good Luck on the search! Mike

Hi, Brian

Fred is a member of the Forum and posts here quiet frequently. I have a copy I purchased several years ago from Tom Bradshaw. I believe Tom gave bOb all his remaining items he sold at one time, and bOb may have copy. I would NOT want to part with mine. And, my copy had either small vinyl or cassette with the exercises and scales. From what I remember the audio was performed for Fred by Jeff Newman. Great stuff.

Incidentally, Fred is having some surgery this week, so all Forum members say a prayer for him. Great guy.

I don't have any in stock, but I know that Fred had it for sale on his web site when he was making Flynn guitars. That enterprise has ended, I believe. Let's wait until he recovers from surgery and then ask him to start selling them again.

It's a great book, by the way. When I read it, suddenly everything "clicked" and I understood the E9th. I'm forever indebted to Fred for that.

Fred's book is "A-OK" my book. I believe mine came with an LP to illustrate all the E9th progressions listed in the book.

Fred's book is one of the best. I use them as part of my teaching material. If you can't locate one soon, E-mail me. Jody.

Fellas, thanks for all your kind remarks. The book has sold well over the years and has gone through several printings. The sound track is now on tape. Tom Bradshaw sent me all the copies he had left and I still have around 25 copies. For those interested, email me. Thanks

Fellas (and a couple of ladies), thanks for your interest and orders. (I'll settle up with b0b later). Due to Donna's passing on June 17, my back surgery was rescheduled to July 11th. I will process any orders that come in this week (July 5 - 9), but will have to handle others when I'm released from the hospital. Could be somewhere between July 18th to 25th, depending on whether they send me directly to the physical therapy facility following the surgery.
