I've been looking at Carters online, and I notice that some of them have a see-through logo (that looks like a decal) and others have a solid black sticker that seems to be adhered to the guitar. Does anybody know what's up with that? |

It may depend on the color of the guitar. |

We switched from a see-through vinyl decal to what is called a dome decal (or bubble decal) about 2 years ago. The newer decal is not see-through and is always a white oval and white letters on a black background. If you have any other questions about our products, we recommend you email or phone us to get the most accurate information and not have to wade through other peoples' incorrect speculations. ------------------ John Fabian Carter Steel Guitars www.steelguitar.com www.steelguitarinfo.com www.carterstarter.com www.magnumsteelguitars.com

do you mean rather than mentioning your company on the "forum' without it appearing to be (as often is) a blatant advertisement. ? Strange business acumen !! ------------------ quote: Steel players do it without fretting

I think the see-through decal looks a lot sharper. It's more traditional. I'm dipping my toe in the waters of change here. I know it may be shallow, but I am concerned about the appearance of the guitar. The see-through decal looks way better to me. I'm a Sho-Bud player now, but I'm looking for a modern D-10 that can please me aesthetically as well as mechanically. Carter is where I'm leaning. It may be a little sad that I'm hanging on to such a detail, but the see-through decal is more appealing to my eye. Just a personal preference, I guess. I certainly didn't intend to provoke such responses......I assumed I would get an accurate response from the Carter players on the forum. I am aware that I can contact the manufacturer......I was just curious as to the differences on the guitars of the Carter owners. Thanks, Chris *(Edited for spelling.)[This message was edited by Chris LeDrew on 16 April 2006 at 07:15 AM.] |

I personally like the new CARTER logo (bubble). As long as the guitar has BCT, then it doesn't really matter to me. I did like finding out about the logo change though I had never given it much thought. |

The dome decal is a vast improvement in my eyes. Its an excellent guitar no matter which decal you have. Hook------------------ www.HookMoore.com

See-through decals are still available in both white and black upon request. quote: do you mean rather than mentioning your company on the "forum' without it appearing to be (as often is) a blatant advertisement. ?
No, I don't. E-mail and phone calls to the source do, however, tend to preclude erroneous answers to your questions. Questions are usually best answered by the source that has the most accurate information. The original question asked "What's up with that?" I apologize for being blunt, but I don't believe that posting "maybe this, maybe that, could be this, could be that" is a useful or helpful answer to what appears to be a why question. Chris' question received the following initial response: quote: We switched from a see-through vinyl decal to what is called a dome decal (or bubble decal) about 2 years ago. The newer decal is not see-through and is always a white oval and white letters on a black background.
The edited version was posted because of the second post and my incorrect spelling of erroneous.[This message was edited by John Fabian on 16 April 2006 at 07:31 AM.] |

Mr. Fabian's PRESUMPTION that he is the sole source of correct information is an insult to the community he purports to serve. quote: other peoples' incorrect speculations.
The apology should be directed to correcting that slur."Wade through" surely implies many speculations not just one ?[This message was edited by basilh on 16 April 2006 at 06:28 AM.] |

Basil,I would venture to say that I am the source of correct information regarding Carter Steel Guitars technical and business issues. Pointing out that incorrect information occurs on this forum is hardly a slur. On this forum you are the source of correct information regarding Waikiki Islanders. If someone asked when you were going to make another album and someone else posted probably never when you planned an album next year, that post would be incorrect. |

Thanks, John. Yes, it does make sense to go to the source for the most accurate information. If I wanted people's opinions on the different logos, I could have asked that. But all I wanted was info on the switch, and I promptly received it.This thread can be closed. The purpose of it has been served. This little minor tidbit of information is not worth a quarrel between forum members. *(Edited to say that I agree with the posts about the logo being immaterial to the guitar's function - in the end it shouldn't influence my decision one way or the other.)[This message was edited by Chris LeDrew on 16 April 2006 at 07:13 AM.] |

What a strange response to a simple querry about your product. Time to maybe take a couple days off from the workshop and go get some perspective maybe.I was dissappointed to see this.

Yes, Ben, this thread took an unexpected turn. I opted to close it because I feared it could get worse - all over a shallow logo question. |

I LIKE the new logo, and think it's a huge improvement. The new oval and font are simple, thus classic. The name really stands out.Good work, John, Ann and Bud! Drew ------------------ Drew Howard - website - Fessenden guitars, 70's Fender Twin, etc.

My speculation was based on the fact that some builders have different logos for different colors. Light logos on the front of dark-colored guitars and dark logos on the front of light-colored guitars.HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! Lee[This message was edited by Lee Baucum on 16 April 2006 at 09:04 AM.] |
