Here some of the code words and what they really mean as used by the "jealous musician" when commenting on another musician:

He Overplays = "He actually is more creative and has a larger lick vocabulary than I do."

He is a technician = "he is much better than I am in the studio and I am hoping and praying he cannot do it live!"

He was just born with it = "I would rather not put in the time in the woodshed to be the best that I can be, so this excuse is as good as any for not trying! Besides, they did not have to work at it! Did they?"

He just sounds like a bunch of scale exercises = "He is much faster than I will ever be and who needs scales anyway? (How did he do that?)"

He plays very soulfully = "He is my favorite player because he cannot play fast and/or is not known for speed picking."

I wish I could do that and then I wouldn't = "I cannot play very fast and I am not willing to work at becoming faster. So there!"

I am sure there are others...

All times are Pacific (US)
