On a recently locked topic in MUSIC, a few of us took a needed detour, which I found very refreshing. So, I thought I’d try to resurrect it with a copy/paste. If Eric’s pictures don’t come out, I’m requesting he repost them. They are so cute!! (of the dog, of course )
Here goes.

Donna
Steel players and their dogs; what does THAT say about them? And do they resemble their pets? Example:Randy Beaver has a chocolate lab. That didn't surprise me. But, imagine my big burley husband Tommy with a Yorki in his lap? There's a gentle giant in him. How about John Floyd? I imagine him with a "hunting dog" named Old Blue. Tony Davis? How about a mischievous Golden Retriever who brings all kinds of samplings back to the house after an afternoon run. Jim Cohen - A Border Collie. He rounds people up - brings them together. Never bites, but gives the "evil eye" and intimidates through crossword puzzles. Just a thought.

Eric
Well, Dog Number 2 Shadow
Dog Number 12 William Tecumseh Sherman ( I know Steve..)
Plus a black Lab and a Little black Pom. Hard to say how many more.

Donna
Oh, and David Donald -A collie (like Lassie). Non judgmental. Loyal. Smart. Can do almost any trick. Never tilts his head side to side like the RCA dog. (non-verbal communications). Knows when to be serious. Knows when to be funny. Will even give up his comfortable bed to guests and sleep in the barn when necessary. We love you, David!!!! And what dog would EVER argue with Lassie?

David L.Donald
Hi Donna, you are, as ususal, too kind my friend. My most recent dog is a Malinois/Belgian shepard cross called Tilly. And she is nice smart and loyal. But her nickname was Tilt, she has huge ears and was ALWAYS triangulating sounds. Like on land sonar. She would even listen to food. The dog before was Heather a 205 lb Great Dane, No question about house invasion with her. One listen and people would not even think about trying the window. She would bark at the classic 6 pane window looking onto the driveway, and her bark eventually loosened two panes at the bottom...But a big sweetie. I don't think either dog was gay, but then they never mentioned a preference.

Jim Cohn
Actually, Donna dear, our dogs have the same name, but, for the sake of you crossword puzzlers, mine's spelled differently: "Brandy". That way the "Y" fits perfectly with the word "Yuck", the clue for which is my reaction to hateful, homophobic people... "Gives the evil eye"?? Moi??

My Ole Dawg is named ACE, after Ace Ventura the pet detective. Female. 1/2 Doberman, 1/4 German Sheppard, and 1/4 Chow. She is human and enjoys all the rights and priviledges of one of the family, just ask her! We got her for Christmas 1996. Supposed to have been my Son's dog, but she has made her own place in the family. She is just a little over 7 years old and is my constant companion around the house or out in the yard. Ain't worth a damn for hunting, except for 4 legged and 2 legged critters who come in HER yard without permission. I never lock my doors, don't need to as long as she is in the house.

Tony, I don't know the two Joes - but I do know Smiley. After Smiley visited us here in Atlanta last month (you remember, he went with me to work at the dentist office that day, sat in one of the Hygiene chairs where he could make it go up and down, while at the same time taking some laughing gas and pressure washing the hygiene room with the little squirt-thingy!)
Well, Smiley decided to give his little pooch the royal dental treatment, too. As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." I caught this great candid picture just outside the office. Smiles were everywhere - What a Hallmark moment!!!!

David,
What a great picture of Madam Tilly!!!! If you look closely, she either just finished having a drink from the lake – OR she’s salivating over whatever is in the water underneath her nose! Really good picture!!

Well, here’s our Brandi. Don’t think just because she’s a Yorkie that she’s a prissy dog!!
She has the personality of a someone who would drive a Jeep (yellow), buy her clothes from Lands End, befriend people of all walks of life, and is just as happy to see you at 4:30 a.m. as 4:30 p.m. My son accidentally put bird food (pellets, NOT seed) in her dish, and just out of courtesy, she ate it. She has a cowboy hat, a sun visor, and several sweaters she wears on special occasions. But as I said before in the “other” thread, she DID do the RCA-dog head-tilt when she saw Dolly singing with Melissa Ethridge. Of course not in a judgmental way – it was more of a curiosity tilt.

OK, here's my 4 lbs. of Terror....Her name is Que-Tee, she's a registered chihuahua that we adopted about four years ago when she was three. She is the best pet/friend a person could ever ask for. She loves going for rides, loves playing the 'get the kitty' game, (the cat loves the 'get the doggy' game, too) and her favorite place to be is on my shoulder when I'm sitting down,(parrot dawg!) or on my lap when I'm on the 'puter. She knows a bunch of tricks, including three different ways to say 'yes', and sitting up on my hand (that was a hard one to teach)
A great watchdog, but not a yippy, barking pain in the butt like other little dogs.
IMHO, there's nothing like a 'pocket dog', they're just so portable!

John, Throw in the fact that she's female . . . I'll bet I know who runs THAT house!! I'm sure you DON'T have to lock your doors!

Jay, Que Tee is the cutest thing I've ever seen! Please have someone take a picture of her on your head so you can post it. Bet you look like Davy Crocket!

David, I don't think I've EVER heard of a dog named Heather. A 205 lb. Great Dane named Heather??? Does Heather mean something interesting in French? I can see the name selection process now . . .
"Hummmmm, what shall we name her?? Let's see now . . she'll probably grow to be more than 200 lbs. She'll need her own bedroom. I'll have to build a platform for her bowls so she won't pull a muscle in her neck. Ok, I know - that's IT . . . I'll call her HEATHER????" Interesting thought process, David!

Donna: We have a Yorkie as well, a female.
The greatest loving dog who thinks she's 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

I was waiting in a customers office for entrance to do some engineering, not paying any attention to the two or three others sitting in chairs. I heard a few short growls and then a longer one. I said, "I know that growl."

I turned to the left and sure enough there was a lady with a Yorkie in her lap. What fun dogs they are.

My baby is my two year old Beagle named Nicky. She is tricolored and was bred to be a show dog. She is a picture book pretty Beagle and is uhmm, shall we say... a tad spoiled.

My wife on the other had has two little Daschunds of the reddish brown, smooth variety. They are brother and sister and about 14 months old. The female (Missy) has severe doggy ADHD and spends virtually her entire waking life running in circles. We don't know why but she does. She is super hyper. Her brother Jake is just the opposite and is laid back and lazy...

Well since I don't drink, my American Bulldog does it for me.
This is the way I usually find her when I come in from a picking gig.

Well, what do you expect Bill? Get that girl a decent pillow! Brookstone has the Pooch variety designed for canine comfort - even comes with a "tilt" option.

Donna, unfortuanately Heather has been gone for more than 10 years.
I adopted her after she was too much for my friend's apartment with 3 kids,
they adopted her to save her from being put down.
I had her for 3+ years still we finally had to do the hard but kind thing. Her rear end had given out. She did eat 2 lbs of Teriaki beef as a last meal... and that was her last thought.

She came with the name Heather, but she was a big sweetie.
But she could scare the bejezz out of the biggest man around.

An Alarm went off one New Years eve in my studio, two cops came to investigate.
At the door, Heather got past my housemate, who was out weighed by 70 lbs,
and chased the cops into their car.
Running for their lives, they thought.

They then decideded that anyone who could get Heather to heel must live there, False Alarm.

I have a pic of her somewhere, if I run across it I will add it here.
