I've linked pictures in the past but now all I get is an "unauthorized" message if I post a link to a picture on my web site. If I try to link the image, I get a "red x".

Here is one that I tried to link:
http://web.tampabay.rr.com/jstoner1/Geo_IV_Band.jpg

Or the image link.

This is the I.E. message when I post a picture URL and try to link to it from the forum. I can link from other forums so it has to be something in the forum or your ISP.

I think that tampabay.rr.com is disallowing requests from third-party pages. Once you've accessed it directly, it's in your browser's cache so it shows up.

We've seen this before with image hosting sites, but never with an ISP like rr.com.

Vern, thanks but your suggestion is not about this post. I didn't ask about an image hosting service, I asked about linking to my web site. Totally unrelated.

Jack, I'll be interested in the fix for this as well. I have the same problem with my cable ISP (cox.net), which is very similar to Roadrunner. I get the same "unauthorized" message you describe above.

Respectfully,

Dave, it appears it's the ISP and what they've set up. I haven't contacted RoadRunner directly but their FAQ's suggest you can't link to pictures. I tried it on a different forum and I got the same thing. It's apparently some new security they implemented, as I could remotely link to pictures from this forum and the other one at one time.

The only thing I've found I can do is link to html pages.

This fall, after I get back from St Louis, I'm going to set up my site and the Florida Steel Guitar Club's site on a web hosting service, so I can get a ".com" for my site and a sub .com for the Club. I'm limited to 5 Mb for a personal web page by RoadRunner and between my site and the club's site we are at the 5 mb max and I can't add more pictures or other features to the web sites.

I will call my ISP and see if that's my problem as well. I can't understand why they offer me 10MB of webspace and then won't allow me to link to pictures that I've uploaded to it.

For example: http://members.cox.net/davidburr/photos/db_steel.jpg

[edited]Well, dang now the link works?!?! Maybe it's just loading from my cache. Someone let me know if this link is working. Thanks!

Respectfully,
Dave Burr

Oh well... Forget everything I said. Either they changed something or I'm just full of it. ;-)

Thanks!
