Why do some members think it's OK to spam all the sections of the Forum with a request to see their post?

We go thru a lot of effort, designing the Forum to have sections that allow easy grouping of topics.

This effort is defeated by this type of Spam. Why not have only one big section? It would save on resources. Imagine if everyone posted the same message in every section!

Now I am see the classic Spammer Trick of giving a subject name that seems appropriate to the section.
That way you are tricked into opening it, only to discover it is SPAM requesting you to read the post in another section!

Thanks to most of the members who don't do this this.

Joey, thanks for that important reminder. Of course, the guys who need to read it the most might not be reading the "Feedback" section, so might I suggest you cross-post it in the other sections so they'll be sure to see it and heed your notice?

I will beg guilty occasionally.
I started something, that was right for recording,
but there was no recording section....

I was tired and picked Extended Family.
I knew Donna would gladly move it,
but I was never sure to WHERE.

I DID add a link in electronics,
because
I wasn't getting any of the fine
recording engineers here commenting.

It seemed a likely work around for the short term.
But would not normally be a SOP motus operandi.

Does this mean the the use of misleading titles is to drive visitors to a home site is also TABOO ?
if so, you could close down this http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/009766.html
I won't go and find more, but I could !!

Of course, new instructional products should be listed in the For Sale: Music, Lessons section, and it's also suggested that new releases be listed under Events and Announcements.

So, is an announcement in E&A directing readers to go to the For Sale: Music, Lessons section a violation of the protocol you've suggested we follow in your initial post?

Herb,
I think you are doing the right thing in the E&A section. I like to read the announcement of one of your (and others) new items there.

You may have noticed I'm no longer the Moderator of E&A. I asked to have it reassigned, as I didn't have enough time.

From the time I spent there, I came to realize there's more grey areas than one can imagine. It's quite a task to keep it running smooth, and uncluttered.

We created the "Steel On The Web" section mainly to redirect a lot of the posts that were going in E&A.

Baz, Thank you for all you do. It's an honor to have you sharing your knowledge here. Your
post was the one that caused my post here, but only because there were a lot of issues (with others) before. I hope there are no hard feelings. I didn't intend to single you out.

I really need to, once again, thank Joey for the great job he did as moderator of E&A. When he started, the section was a real hodge podge of topics. Joey focused on the real purpose of the section and tirelessly moved off topic posts to where the belong. Today, the section is very much under control. It's a great place to look for news of current steel guitar events, which is exactly what is was designed to be.

Thanks again, Joey!!!
