Here's a little major scale lick that I find is pretty useful. This is one of those licks that will work over a chord progression or a single chord. Example is key of D. Eighth notes except for last note resolve with quarter, whole, half three measures or whatever.E9th 1----------------------------------- 2--10------------------------------- 3----------------------------------- 4------10-------10------10------10-- 5----------10A------10-------------- 6---------------------------10B----- 7----------------------------------- 8----------------------------------- 9----------------------------------- 10---------------------------------- M T T M T M T T 1----------------------------------- 2--10------------------------------- 3----------------------------------- 4------10-------10------10------10-- 5----------10A------10-------------- 6---------------------------10B----- 7----------------------------------- 8----------------------------------- 9----------------------------------- 10---------------------------------- M T T M T M T T 1------------------------------------- 2--10--------------------------------- 3------------------------------------- 4------10-------10------10------10---- 5----------10A------10---------------- 6---------------------------10B-----10 7------------------------------------- 8------------------------------------- 9------------------------------------- 10------------------------------------ M T T M T M T M T

Sonbone,I think I took my first "self-directed" PSG lessons using licks you posted on your personal website back in 1998... If that was your site - thanks! |

Hi Sonbone: Thanks for the lick ! Like Tom above I also want to thank you for your helping me get into the pedal steel world. Back in '97 I was hunting for any source of pedal steel info and your site came up. I e-mailed you and you answered back with some tuning advice for my old childhood lapsteel...that was the first step for me getting into this crazy musical obsession. I hate you. Thanks again. --Gord
