Has anyone tabbed out "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" from the Byrd's "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" album? I'm pretty sure it's Lloyd Green. There's some incredibly advanced licks on that track, and a singer I work with does the tune. I'd like to cop a few of the licks.------------------

Robert, I thought the same thing, but after I searched for it it turns out it was "You're Still on My Mind" that she posted.Somebody'll step up to the plate, I'm sure. |

Thanks everyone. The intro helps a lot, except for the low fret stuff because this girl singer is doing it in F instead of G.
Any of the trademark fills would be helpful too. Lloyd Green is a monster player!------------------

I listened to the .mp3, but, like you said in your e-mail note to me, it's mono, and poor quality at that. I can make out the intro and solo, but the notes from the fills sound too blurry in the mix, at least for my ears. If anyone can send a good quality, stereo .mp3, it would be much appreciated. b0b and others,I tabbed the intro and I have the other licks written down at home. I will post them when I get home tonight. I have all the first verse, chorus and first solo. After that my brain turns to oatmeal! Very difficult licks! Mark |

Jeff, I pulled out my CD of Sweetheart of the Rodeo last weekend and was surprised at how distorted the steel was on that track. Sounds like a Fender Twin running a little tooo hot, but I'll rip an MP3 for you tonight from home. |

b0b...if you were to do a search in the old BAR CHATTER, I explained some licks in there.
I don't know how to put them in tab on the forum, so I had to explain it out.Lloyd makes much use on "YAGN" with pedals B&C.In the key of G, 2 licks are these: 5th fret, open, str 3,4,5. pluck open, squash-release, squash-release, pluck-squash-let-ring, slide to 4th fet, 3rd fret [pedals B&C still down], release pedals. A similar one: str 3,4,5. 4th fret pedals down. pluck-slide to 5th fret, slide back to 4th fret, slide to 3rd fret [pedals B&C still down], release pedals. There are single note runs as well. The easiest way I found to get to his "clipped" scales is by just using strings 1[F#] and 3[G#], Thumb & index [for me], and occaisonally pedal B [G#-A]. The clipped scale [I call it] sounds like dah-dot dah-dot
dah-dot etc. Run around between frets 1,3,6,8,11,13 using just those 2 notes [strings]. Hope this helps. I think I explain it better

The above "6th" fret is obviously simply wrong. Sorry. 8th fret. This is just a descending figure on the three inversion positions of the F chord. Quick 2-3-1 fingered rolls.
