This Dick McIntire piece is on electric 6 string in F#9 or C#m7 tuning since the lower 5th and 6th strings are not being used. F#9 = Low F# A# E G# C# E High. C#m7 = Low E B E G# C# E High. The upper 4 strings of F#9 and C#m7 are the same notes. You can learn the phrasing (which swings like crazy) off the CumQuat records lable "Royal Hawaiian Hotel" CD (audio recording is below the tab, thanks Rick Aiello). I used a chop shop phrase sampler to record copy the tune and transcribe it note for note. If you have any questions about the tab, feel free to email with them. jwhillbilly@hotmail.comSome of the voicings can be made fatter on some of the 2 note groups (3rd and 4th box's of tab on the first page), it's up to you. I myself put everything in 3 note groupings now instead of 2 on the 3rd and 4th box of tab, first page (I'll fix it later). I need to get the girls I jam with to scan and repost the picture of the tab, lol. Enjoy!
Here is the corrected tab that Scott pointed out. This replaces the 3rd Box of Tab on the first page:

Here's a quick chord progression for twilight blues. For us "playing nonpedal on pedal" types.The tuning is unusual, but only the 1st 4 strings are used.

Great tune by Dick.. The single note work is the best part, like the old Hawaiians played. Most players these days seem to want to play more harmony notes or strums, which is OK if its what they are into. This tune seems great like Dick plays it. |

-------------------------------- Not trying to be the "tab police". Just want to contribute my thoughts, and hope it doesn't annoy you. I like the beefier 3 note voicings same as you for those passages. I think that's what he's dong, but it isn't always easy to tell. But it does add consistency throughout that whole section. Happy New Year! (I hesitate to post this on New Year's Eve, it betrays the fact that I have nothing better to do than sit in front of the computer, reading SGF with my frypan on my lap, learning Dick McIntire. What a steel guitar geek!!!) |

Scott, good work! yea, your way sounds right and I'm re-writting my tab. This tuning is so simple but yet you gotta get your ear used to it. I'm gonna re-write the finished product in Power Tab like Craig uses, man thats clean. |
