I have a 10-string custom lap guitar that I don't play much as its a 24.5 scale and I play 22.5 scales and I'm disabled so the long reach is a problem. The guitar was made by Hughes in Nashville I was told, and is cira 1970. It is solid Walnut with a very fine curly fiddlback maple top and headstock facing. It is guitar-shaped, has a Bill Lawrence blade humbucker similar to Emmons steels. Jason Lollar rewound and rewired it, the guitar has a single knob with push-pull for series-parallel to get a more single-coil sound. The cavity is big enough for more controls to be added, but the builder had the asthetics to just drill for a volume knob, tone knob or switches would be very easy to add. This is a very pretty guitar, its got gold Grovers and a sculpted brass nut and brass tailpiece. The blonde maple top is unbelievable in its grain, like curly ribbons. The rosewood fingerboard has real mother-of-pearl frets and rectangle markers. Serious players will like this one, I'm asking $1,000 but will entertain offers. Thanks Howard. I appreciate that. The back is black lacquer, its checked pretty good but no dings or ugly stuff, I'd call it good aging. Theres another pic around here, if anyone seriously is interested I'll mail it to you. |

Thanks to everyone for the inquiries, I had a sale pending, but it fell through. If you were/are interested in this guitar, please re-contact me. BTW, yes this thing sounds amazing, tons of sustain, its really fat in standard humbucking mode, and the pull-parallel sounds more open for chording without mud. Kinda stringmaster-esque. |

I am playing with a 10 string steel that I have heavily customized. If anyone is wondering, 10 string non-pedal steel is VERY cool. That's a fine looking guitar, Chuck, and I bet it sounds great! |

I'd be tempted if I hadn't just put a bid on Curtis Scarrow's 10 string up on Ebay. |

I was asked about string spacing... nut 2.423 total space bridge 3.074 total space
I think the .350 bridge spacing is standard pedal steel spacing... |

OK, folks. I'm gonna throw in a brand new hardshell case. The guitar definitely deserves it and shipping will be safer. |

I really like this axe but it is a hair out of my budget for a lap plus I would have to have a tone knob but man what a good looking guitar. ------------------ |
