I'm selling my double-8, 22.5'' scale Fender Stringmaster with original hardshell case and telescoping legs. I believe it's a 1960s vintage - the case is typical for that era - but it's never been important to me to open the pickup cavity to look for a date and signature.

The chrome is in great shape with no pitting and the electronics and leg clutches work perfectly. The bridge covers are both in place and work fine as well.

This guitar was re-finished by a previous owner in a blue that's close to Fender's 'Sonic Blue' custom color even though Stringmasters were never factory finished in blue. I t's probably not a pro refinish as it's not high gloss but I've always found it okay. The previous owner also attached the relief Fender logo from the case to the audience side of the guitar (see photo). It actually doesn't look bad that way but the guitar comes with 2 Fender "Spagetti" logo decals (see Photo) should anyone want to re-finish it to original specs. There are a few minor bar dings and dents between the necks but the body is in sound shape.

This guitar has the fabulous tone, versatility, playability and rugged construction that make Fender Stringmasters the "Rolls Royce" of non-pedal guitars. The blend knobs and bridge covers are all in place.

The guitar comes with a custom built wooden shipping crate fastened with square (Robertson) screws. The guitar in its Fender case and the shipping case together weigh 50lbs and should cost about $50-60to ship in the US (by my rough calculations).

Buyer pays the actual UPS Ground shipping to your location. I'd like to get $850 + shipping.

Note: the shipping case has address marked on the exterior that I obscured via Photoshop for privacy.

Great color except refinishing drops the value of the guitar. Not picking a fight or nothing, just something I was once told.

Here we go again! Why do you tempt me like this? I'm very partial to short~scales! Are all (4)-P/U's at proper readings or are there any kinda weak ones that would deserve/require re-winding in addition to the intial investment?

“By George”, I just don't know what to do! As for the finish: The original finishes weren't really Glossy, but; kinda on the dull no-glare side! My early ’50's D–8 was a kinda transparent Ivory color! I think the finish is of the proper style, even if not a factory choice of color! It gets better l©©king to me the more I l©©k at it!

John, I've never measured the pickup outputs and frankly, wouldn't know how to do so, but they all sound strong and rich to my ear. The finish is kind of matte/eggshell finish. It's a nice guitar and I hate to see it go but I need the cash for another purchase.

Garrr! Why did I just spend $600 on a bass rig?!?!?!?

Oh well, I'm gonna make more money playing bass than this great guitar... If you'll take a two-party, out of state, hot check, I might be able to take it off your hands though....

OK, ...I've had all I can stands; I can't stands no more! Consternation competing with John's! Been waiting to see a cash deal here for Andy.....

------------

Mom (wife) just went to the store. I broke free of my pajamas she stapled hard to the back of the bedroom door with me in them ...to keep me away from this posting. I have about 5 minutes to get this typed and climb back into the pajamas, whip in teeth.

So Andy, ...shot in the dark: Could a trade compete with "another purchase"?

If so, please email for details. I'm swamped right now and might not get back here soon / often. Thanks.

OOPS .....here comes Mom........

Aloha,
Denny T~

Gee !!.....Do you think David want's Andy's D-8 ? ......... ........Jim

PS....Yes , refinishing does lower the value of an instrument, but this D-8 is nice and worth the money as just a player , and has a short scale for easy bar slant's !!....My T-8 is a 22.5" scale , and I LOVE it !!!.......

WHEW .... that sure makes things easier. Mom unstapled me from the bedroom door. The cosmos once again sorts things out when I couldn't!

I'm not sure, but it looks like David might want the Stringmaster too! SUPER.

Aloha,
DT~

The guitar is off the market. My lovely and perceptive wife has convinced me to hang onto the instrument as she correctly surmised my pain in seeing it leave. Sorry to have yanked some chains - it was certainly unintentional. I'm keepin' it! Please close this thread.
