![]() ![]() Was this song (or album) ever tabbed out? |

![]() ![]() Scotty tabbed out a version similar to E's in his "black book" for Mel Bay, oh, 15 or so years ago. The one where Scotty looks young on the cover! ![]() ![]() ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Herby has it, and it is identical to the way Buddy played it. |

![]() ![]() The exact transcription is in Mel Bay's ANTHOLOGY OF PEDAL STEEL GUITAR by DeWitt Scott / book and CD. Any music store can order it for you. There is also tab in that book for Lloyd Green's "Bars of Steel" and several other great steel tunes. On the CD is Buddy's version of Danny Boy from the Emmons Co. "Black Album". ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Fred... I have Herby's version. I was under the impression that it was identical to the way Buddy played it, but had heard otherwise. I'll have to get the album, I guess. Should have had it anyhow. Thanks for the response. |

![]() ![]() I think you will find it is like the way Buddy played it on his album. Herby told me he transcribed it from the album and it sounds the same to me, at least as close as I am able to play it anyway. No one ever matches Buddys sound, but I believe the notes are correct. Just play Buddys album and play along with the tab. |

![]() ![]() I don't know if this version was released back in the 1960s but Buddy recorded "Danny Boy" as a part of the Texas Troubadors in~1960/61 (?)....I really love that version..its a bit simpler than the later one but it has an awesome part where he played in the lower register ( I think the Black album version has the harmonics part in that place). Someone should tab that out, it cam be found at least on the Bear Family box of Ernest Tubb (1960~66). Andy ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Yeah Andy, that's a great version. I think it was unreleased until it came out on in that Bear Family Box Set. I really like the low register part that you mentioned too. |

![]() ![]() Was the low part done on C6 or E9? One time I heard Buddy play Danny Boy on E9 and C6. The C6 part was low, simple and sweet! ------------------ |

![]() ![]() I think it was on C6th since I can't find a voicing on E9th...it sounds so sweet (almost a bit hawaiian to me) Andy ------------------ [This message was edited by Tele on 06 July 2001 at 11:12 AM.] |

![]() ![]() lower register part here it is, I'm sorry about the low-fi 8-bit media but it was the only way for me to keep the file small. if you have trouble with Real player just click on the link with the right mouse Andy ------------------ [This message was edited by Tele on 06 July 2001 at 12:14 PM.] |

![]() ![]() Here is a very simple version I tabed out for a student. Only 2 strings and 2 pedals. steelguitarforum.com/Forum8/HTML/000061.html Bob |

![]() ![]() In the No Peddlers forum, there is a thread about Jerry Byrd and a harmonics lesson. Before last night's gig, I fooled around with it for awhile and it's pretty straight forward but what I didn't expect to find was Danny Boy. Using the 7th and 5th fret harmonics, I found Regards, Paul |
