Author | Topic: Emmons Push Pull maintainance Manual? |
David Mullis Member Posts: 1413 |
![]() ![]() Reading John Lacey's post and Buddy's reply brought this to mind. I seem to remember hearing that Emmons had put out a maintainance manual for the Push Pull. Does anyone know if this manual is still available? Thanks '71 Rosewood Emmons |

![]() ![]() If I remember right, I think Bobbe Seymour sells it. |

![]() ![]() Jim's right. Bobbe sells a book entitled "Methodology and Practice in Pedal Steel Guitar" (a name whose relevance I've never understood, ![]() I considered both well worth the money. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Great, thanks for the info guys. I have the video, I'll be adding the book to my collection too! |

![]() ![]() I have the video and it is excellent. I tried to get the manual but was told that they were out of stock and had no intention of printing anymore. Maybe if there is enough interest Bobbe would get some more printed. I would certainly buy one. |

![]() ![]() I have one of the manuals somewhere but have no plans to own another push-pull. What's a decent price to ask? |

![]() ![]() Try Emmons Guitar Co for the "Methodology and Pracice in Pedal Steel Guitar" I got one from them a couple of weeks ago. |

![]() ![]() Methodology and Practice in Pedal Steel Guitar was written by Clem Schmitz. He's one of the best push-pull tech's there ever was. Mike Cass used to teach at his store in Minneapolis, (Pedal Steel Guitar Emporium.) I was hanging around the store when the book was being written. Great reference manual. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() A newer reference manual is definitely needed. As much help as Clem's book has been, there are certain topics that are not covered that need to be. Maybe an Internet-available tech manual for P/P's would be nice. Brucey? |

![]() ![]() John, after writing the Wilderness manual for your webpage I ran out of ideas for subjects to cover. Because there are so many variables with the push/pull and indeed with any pedal steel,I think the best any manual can do is give you the basic tools you need to solve each situation as it arises.I know there are some situations that can be trying like getting the 1st string whole tone raise to have a reasonable travel length. Solutions for this problem might be good addition to the present material available. Howerver between the Wilderness manual, Clem's book and Bobbe's video most people if they apply themselves, should be able to get a good feel for working on these guitars.

![]() ![]() I heard through the grapevine that the Emmons company has the manual available for $12. b0b, if this is an inappropriate post, feel free to delete it. |

![]() ![]() Did you guys actually get a book? When I ordered mine a few years ago, it consisted of photocopied pages in a duo-tang. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() Greg, mine is like yours. I assumed that was the way they were sold. ![]() |
Ernie Renn Member Posts: 2657 |
![]() ![]() It was originally produced that way. Clem made them up himself. I've got one of the first ones and I'll bet it looks almost exactly the same as yours does. ------------------ |
