Bobbe,

Does Johnny Sibert ever come into your place? How can a great Fender sound like this just vanish?

He was my first steel guitar hero,___since I was 8 years old.

The Stringmaster he used was a rare model in that it was a 26" scale with the chrome pickup covers. These had a very unique tone (timber)and most players didn't use this model. Bobby Garritt also used this 26" scale guitar in a double neck. Leon McCallife(wrong spelling) also used one in a four neck configuration. I can really vouch for the great tone of the 26" scale guitars. You spotted this tone, and I feel anyone that listens can hear the greatness in the 26" guitars. These guitars did not use the "fader" controlls for the pickups, they were just wired together , wide open.
This was the "Johnny Siebert" tone .

Thanks for that Bobbe. If Johnny ever comes into your place have him send me a note.

Johnny was to Carl Smith what Luther was to Cash.

I understand, kinda like what Dan Quale was to Ronald Reagan, Ernie Renn is to Buddy Emmons,Ed McMahon was to Johnny Carson, What Hughy was to Conway, Jimmy Day to Ray Price, Buddy Charlton to Ernest Tubb, Bobbe to Shot, Etc. Yea, I understand,What Smiley is to Wierach, Martha was to George, Monica is to breath mints, Etc.
Kinda like one sorta' helps the other, good buddies, both together are better than the sum of either by themselves. Little Roy to Eddie Arnold ETC.-----------
