Al's been working in the studio with Merle Haggard this year, but who knows of any past recordings?.
Al Brumley Jr.{born 1933}, worked on 'Cousin' Herb Henson's Trading Post in the early 1960's, it was a young Merle Haggard that auditioned sucessfully for Al and got on the show around that time.
Besides recording some singles for Bakersfield's Mosrite label in 1966, Al Jr. also cut an album of his father's songs, with Tom playing on it as well.

'Al Brumley Sings Albert E. Brumley'{1965} American Artists AAS 1020 LP

Has anyone got a copy of this or heard it?.

Jason,
Al Brumley has two albums. One is Gospel Favorites and the other is Sentimental Favorites. All songs on both written by Al Sr. I got them off a TV add after Al Jr. appeared on the Ralph Emery show. I consider them treasures and play them often, partly to listen to Tom's great steel work.

Hey, thanks Terry, Al Jr. is the uncredited guest on Hag's 'Cabin In The Hills' C.D.

There's a compilation of Mosrite Records artists, and he's on that, it might be hard to find now, though.
Al sounds good on this.

Mosrite Records " ARTISTS OF THE 60's " Mosrite 1284
SIDE A
Queen For A Day Barbara Mandrell 2:23
Pickin' And Guitin' Joe Maphis 2:04
Write Him A Letter Rose Lee Maphis 2:12
Tragic Romance Al Brumley 2:18
Green Valley Waltz Joe Maphis 2:11
Durango Gene Moles 1:40
Magnolia Waltz Tommy Duncan 1:58
SIDE B
Alone In A Crowd Barbara Mandrell 2:25
Alabama Jubilee Joe Maphis 1:31
A Lifetime Of Love Joe & Rose Lee Maphis 2:41
Love Came Calling Louise Lovett 2:10
The Best Girl Doyle Holly 2:38
One More Time Around Eddie Dean 1:58
Boil Them Cabbage Down Leo Le Blanc 1:31
Info: *All vocals originally recorded in 1966 at RCA Studios In Hollywood California. Produced By LARRY SCOTT, PRODUCED AND REMIXED BY MARK MOSELEY September, 1984 NAshville, Tennessee
Mosrite records
P.O.Box 40013
Nashville TN 37204

Larry was a Bakersfield D.J and used to do the sound at the Blackboard Club when Bill Woods led the band there.
the only real let down is that a couple of the songs {mainly Barbara's stuff}, seen to have been worked over in the 1980's, to maked them more contemporary. This is not good!.
One of Barbara's tracks sounds like it's from 1984, with studio echo on the drums and synthesizers.
Otherwise it's a really good compilation. I don't have a copy of the L.P, but a friend was kind enough to make a copy for me.
Regards

Jason.
