Chris LeDoux is very popular out here in Northern Idaho, and I was just curious if he is at all popular out towards the eastern end of the country. Maybe I'm just warped from having too many rodeo buddies. He seems to have a universal appeal and some depth that is lackin in so much of the music out there today.

He's not played down here in Florida. He had a run, thanks to Garth, but after that nothing.

I take it he's OK after his recent medical problems.

Never heard of him until the Garth hit. Still don't know what he sounds like. I am in New England.

We do alot of LeDoux music. The rodeo people love it. We have a good following. Chris has sold millions of albums by himself. He proved that you don't need a big label to make it in the music business. Garth Brooks patterned himself after LeDoux but Chris is the real thing. He is rockier than traditional country. Good song writer, excellent performer.

I have known Chris for many years,I even opened up a few shows for him in Colorado in 1992. When it comes to Cowboy life yes Chris is the real deal,he is the 1976 Bareback Bronc Champion of the World, and had regional success out here in the west long before Garth came along in the Rodeo world with his music. He has quite the catalogue over 25 albums starting around 1973 till the present. He is 53 years old and has been married to the same gal Peg for over 25years and has 5 kids,4 boys and a girl. His youngest is following in Dad's footsteps and quite the young bronc rider. He lives in Kaycee, Wyoming. and has for years on his ranch. Refuses to do the whole Nashville scene, loves it out here in the West, Can't blame him, I do too.
But as far as Chris's music goes, he is not country he is country rock with all the fireworks and mechanical bull riding in his show. He didn't use to be though, I remember back about 13 years ago when he didn't pack the crowds in and there was 15 people in the bar watching him sing, and he was selling his tapes out of a booth at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Wow what memories<<<<<. But somewhere Chris's music changed alot,if you listen to a 1970's Chris LeDoux and his music now you will see what I mean. Back then it was real country about Rodeo life now its Bon Jovi with a steel guitar. I still like Chris and we are great friends but he knows what sells too the young folks, and thats not the music most of us on the FORUM want to hear.
I know that this has been a long explantion about Chris, but I can say that if you have never been to one of his shows you are in for a real treat, there is lots of energy and fireworks and smoke, so get ready. If you like that kind of stuff???
I miss the old stuff<<<<<<<<<.

Excellent story Red. I second the recommendation to go see Chris in concert. One of the secret greats of country rock. High energy testosterone/adrenaline performance. Just like his bull riding.
