It's great to be able to enjoy the super sounds of the steel guitar, even though it might not be being played by Lloyd, John Hughey, Paul or Buddy. I enjoy the sound of the steel, not only in the more traditional country music that I love, but even some of that on the newer records. Music has changed, and senior citizens like myself don't always like change. But I drive a car to work (don't ride a horse there), and accept the change. Does not mean I don't like the great old music, where steel was often king. I certainly hope that most of us can enjoy the work of steelers that are not Emmons, Franklin, Day, Newman, etc., and if they can't they are probably fairly unhappy people. As for the Opry players, I enjoyed them all, even if they are not perfect; of course, we could write letters to the artists and suggest they drop the steel players, because we think they would sound better without them. That would really help further the steel go down the drain. Just about quit coming to this page because of the negative comments. I like to feel a little better when I sign off, not get a little more depressed. But then when I look at the number of "posts" of those being so negative, perhaps it indicates they just don't have anything else to do.

I did listen to the opry Sat. nite from about 7:30 till 9:30. I listened carefully to the ones that were on during that time, I really enjoyed them all especially Billy Walker's version of "Behind Closed Doors". The steel players, whoever they are, did a jam-up job!!! I love country music and its really an extra treat to reconize the voice as well as the steel player..GO COUNTRY...

I also enjoy listening to steel guitar. But when it is on the opery it should be the best of the best. all the rest whodon't quite measure up to the best of the best play the road the bars where ever till you get to the point that you are with the best not an also ran were talking about the opery here not some fly by night road show. I aint downing the players for there talent or lack of but when I spend my money for cable so I can watch the opery I expect to see nothing but the best COUNTRY there is not rock and roll Country. THERE I 've done it again Theresa forgive me

OKay B. Cole so you didn't like this last Opry TV shows steel playing. You certainly won't like next weeks show either so I hope you don't waste your valuable time and use that night to l k for a playing job so that everyone can hear what made you such an expert critic. Most instruments are tuned off stage and the player does not get a shot to re-tune after hurrying to set the instrument down with seconds to be ready. A professional should understand the situation. Not everyone gets a chance to work the Opry,If it's a first time I'm sure the nerves are tighter than the picking,However these are journeyman players doing for a living what they worked hard to do.Most get on the Forum I don't believe any of them ever said a bad word about B.C le.Be cool Cole.

Myron there is at least one of us who don't want to ever play the opry. I for one do not put my self in that class of player. But I am man enough to admit that. Now there are a few more so called players that should do the same. I do not fault anyone for wanting to go as far as possible. As far as palying jobs I have far more then I want. I will not discuss with you my talent or lack of. But you may get very suprised if you sit down beside me then again you may not. Now I am going to end this because it is a waste of my good practice time which I need if I'm to find any jobs. I will tape the opry Sat. night so I have something to bitch about on Sunday since I already know Sat. night is going to go real good oh hell I nearly forgot I'm playing Sunday also so I can't bitch then I guess you will have to wait till Mon. And for those who tokk the time to email your waisteing your time I learned to spell from the Bobbe Seamour--Sizemore--Sleezmore school of hard knocks

B.C. I guess we can wait until monday to find out if it was a good show or not. However the mere fact that you have more work then you want tells me you should rest monday and enlighten us on tuesday.I can understand you not having any ambition or desires to play the Opry. After playing Iggys Roadhouse Saloon (w/indoor plumbing) No sense lowering your standards.

I rarely post to this forum but I "feel the need". You know it's like the drummer that tours with a comedian only doing rim shots to support the jokes, he's a great jazz drummer but he's feeding his family. An honorable occupation.

I'm not a huge fan of todays "top 40 country" but it is what it is. The joke is a nose hair like b cole, sitting in the cheap seats, taking shots at the guys that are getting the jobs done, satisfing their artists and record companies, not to mention, feeding their families.

A hack is a hack. Hacks always talk a big game..

Kevin I was going to stop but if I had to prostute( spelling From the bobbe Sizemore school of hard knocks} my self to feed my famely then I would sure as hell look for a diffrent job. But then again there probably are not to many jobs out there that you could do. So I guess you should keep on pretendong you play steel. If thats what you want to call what I heard Sat. I sure hope you do a better job on the road if not then you better back up to collect your pay. And to see such as you play I would not even buy the cheap seats nor the gas to go there
