I just returned from Bakersfield, California after watching Buck and his Buckaroos perform in his own theater. He still sounds great and looks terrific. He has trimmed down considerably since I saw him do his retirement show a few years past. I did't catch his steel players name(also played lead guitar), but he is very talented on both. Buck played several tunes on the fiddle also. My reserve ticket was $8.00 as compared to an average of $25 to $30 here in Branson, Mo( I,m just 25 miles away). He only performs on friday evenings, and has current country stars on other nights. |

That's Terry Christofferson on steel, over the years he's played steel, lead guitar and even banjo with Buck. Before he joined the Buckaroos in 1975 he cut a surf album with a group circa 1964 and played on one of Dorsey Burnette's solo albums for Capitol Records in the early 1970s. |

Jason, Terry also took guitar lessons from Cletus Clark in Fresno CA about 1960 or so. He must have been about 10 years old, and I wasn't, haha, Gary. |

Buck's Fri. and Sat. shows from the Crystal Palace used to be broadcast live on his radio stations website. Don't know if that is still happening or not. He has a great place. That Bonneville over the bar is just the coolest thing. Been a while since I was there...I think it's a Bonneville. |

Ray, I met Buck in the early 50s. He was playing lead with Tommy Collins. He also played steel and fiddle on the show. Buck is a fantastic musician and and entertainer. |

Thanks for the very interesting and informative thread. Perry, whenBuck beganhis own group, Did Jay McDonald tour with him? Also, did Ralph work with him on the road? |

Butch: Jay toured with Buck from 1963 to 1964.Apparently, he didn't take kindly to the road or whatever and was soon replaced by Tom Brumley. In addition to being on the cover of Buck's "On the Bandstand" LP circa 1963 that has been re-issued by Sundazed, there is another picture of Jay with his Fender 1000 on the inside of the liner on one of the other Sundazed CD's. Jay is relatively unknown yet certifiably one of the greats. |

I've had the priviledge to play at the Crystal Palace a couple of times over the last 3 or 4 months, following Buck and the Buckeroos on stage. He still puts on a good show, etc. You can catch his live show every Fri & Sat night, simulcast on www.buckowens.com & his radio stations out there (107.9 & 550). The time is 7-9pm Pacific Time. He, however, doesn't usually appear until about 7:30p and "disappears" around 8:15p. I can't say this enough......a lot of these "legends" won't be around forever, and an opportunity to hear them...LIVE....should never be taken for granted, IMHO. |

I've allways been a Buck Owens fan, and when you went to the Buck Owens show, that's who you saw. not like some[or most], he stayed out there on stage from the start of the show til the end, and you got the impression that he liked what he was doing, and was proud of his musicians. Jim |
