I am searching for the lyrics to the song "Undo the Right" as recorded by Johnny Bush. The hook line is "If you can't undo the wrong, undo the right". Seems like Willie Nelson wrote it. Anyhow, it's not on Cowpie and I can't find it elsewhere. Can somebody out there help me with this?

Many thanks,
Tim R.

If you can't say you love me, say you hate me
And that you regret each time you held me tight.
If you can't be mine forever then forsake me,
If you can't undo the wrong, undo the right.

It was right when you love me only,
But wrong when you held another tight.
So before you go away and leave me lonely
If you can't undo the wrong, undo the right.

It's too late to say your heart is filled with sorrow
You can't undo what's done, why do you try?
So before you go away and leave me lonely,
If you can't undo the wrong, undo the right.

It was right when you loved me only, but wrong when you held anothere tight. So before you go away and leave me lonely, if you can't undo the wrong, undo the right. Chorus: It's too late to say your heart is filled with sorrow, you can't undo what's done why do you try. So before you go away and leave me lonely, if you can't undo the wrong, undo the right. This should be darn close, but I haven't sang this in a few months, so hopefully someone who knows better can edit for me.

There was a version of "Undo the Right" by Wade Hayes about five years ago that was pretty good but I don't know who played steel on it.
Connie Smith has a song called "Just Let Me Know" on one of her latest CD's that sounds an awful lot like Undo the Right with different words. Gary Hogue is listed as the steel player. Lots of good country on her CD.

Well Chris, since I've been Bush's road steel player for almost 11 years, I do have the song on the tips of my fingers, so to speak.

But I am happy that a guy from Maryland knows and performs the song!

Herb, thanks, and you'll be pleased that I talked Ty Braddock into learning it and putting it on the album that we're recording as I type. I also snuck in "An Eye for an Eye" on him, I told him it was a Ray Price song!! I just played him the version off of The Other Woman album and he doesn't know the difference!! Man, I kill me, I am a funny bastard (well, at least half of that).

I hear that Johnny Bush recorded "An Eye For An Eye", on his next album, with the Big E doing the honors. I was told it sounds a lot like the Ray Price version.

Sweeeeeeet, I didn't know that Mr. Bush was working on a new album yet. I haven't been able to find that rereleased live one yet. Anybody have any suggestions of where to look?

Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Fort Worth has the new album, I'm sure. Use directory assistance for the number, I don't have it at hand.

Yup! Herb is right again. I bought my copy at E.T's Record Shop in Ft. Worth a couple o' weeks ago. At that time they just got a bunch of 'em in. Hopefully, they still have some left.

Keep on pickin'!
