![]() I recently purchased a CD that I didn't even know existed until I saw it on ebay. "Don Rich and the Buckaroos",Country Pickin', The Don Rich Anthology. A mixture of 24 instumentals and vocals on this cd and they're all super! If you like Don on fiddle, guitar and doing the vocals along with Tom Brumley on steel,(what a super steel guitarist!)along with all the other Buckaroos you've got to get this album. There's also some very interesting info about Don in the little booklet that's with the Cd. ![]() I don't have the CD, but I do still have the Capitol albums "America's Most Wanted Band" and "The Buckaroos Strike Again!". They also put out an all instrumental album of 12 Buck Owens #1 songs about the same time its called "The Buck Owens Song Book" by the Buckaroos! I don't know if its out on CD, but it has some great pickin' on it. |

![]() Just the compilation on Sundazed Records who Buck leases his material to. I assume they will see how the Don Rich/Buckaroos comp goes before they issue anything else. |

![]() Alvin, I've got one called Anywhere USA with Buck Owens' Buckaroos. One cut has Tom Brumley on Dobro and Don Rich on steel. Is there anything Don couldn't do? |

![]() Sundazed has released a CD of "instrumental hits of the Buckaroos", which in part duplicates the Don Rich Anthology set (Buckaroo,Chaparral, some fiddle tunes), is heavy on Buck's Polkas type stuff, and includes two cuts from the album mentioned above of Owen's hits played instrumentally under the direction of Don Rich (Basically seems to be the rhythm tracks for the original cuts with a Tele playing the melody) Unfortunately Tom Brumleys great waltzes and up tempo type stuff is not included. Only SGR, Bud's Bounce (Both way cool but Tom Cattin', Pedal Patter, how could they NOT put those on?)...BUT there are great melodic steel solos on Maiden's Prayer and Faded Love TRACK LISTING Buckaroo [This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 07 January 2003 at 08:31 PM.] [This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 09 January 2003 at 06:28 PM.] |

![]() Tony, it's the last cut on side 2 entitled "Highland Fling". It reads: Featuring Tom Brumley on Dobro with Don Rich on steel guitar. |

![]() Dave, there's a typo in your Sundazed link. without checking, I'd say that the "Instrumental hits of the Buckaroos," set is a reissue of the 1966 album. Buck is leading this set, whereas later Buckaroos albums came more under the control of Don Rich, Tom Brumley and Doyle Holly. If you check out the songs on the later albums, Don was taking them into a more progressive country style, he seems to have been taken with the Band and their material.
