While listening to our little AM radio station yesterday, my wife won a copy of the cd called "I've Always Been Crazy" "A Tribure to Waylon Jennings"
It contains some of Waylon's biggest hits done by various artist. I listened to the whole thing.
Now I don't know of anyone who is a bigger fan of Waylon than I. I loved to hear Ralph Mooney get loose and Waylon come in with his "Chicken Pickin" as I call it.
All I can say, if it were not for Travis Tritt's rendition of "Lonesome, Orny & mean" and the last cut by Waylon titled "The Dream" this cd would be entirely worthless.
Kid Rock and the others just didn't get the job done. If she had not gotten it for free, I sure wouldn't have bought it.

I agree except I can live with the Pin Monkey cut just because of the dobro work and Andy Griggs' cut was OK. Other than that, just a bunch of hollerin' by rockers.

My Main concern and question is, (Even commode huging drunk), how can anyone even consider what Kid Rock does as country.
The original of Waylon & Jessie doing "storms never last" Of which I have the original old lp of is beautiful. The version on the cd ain't.
I went back an played the thing again and you are right about Andy. He did good.
The steel work by Robby Turner and Chad j. Udeen was great.
Can't say much for the rest.

Tom, you have it right on the nose. At the station where I work, we are now playing the "no talent: along with K-rock. The album is really lame at best. Record label looking to cash in on one of the last great stars.

You guys bought the wrong Waylon Tribute cD.
The one you want to have is on "Dualtone Records" called Lonesome On'ry And Mean
Produced by Chuck Mead from "BR-549"
This is the line up:
1. Guy Clark - Good Hearted Woman
2. Nanci Griffith - You Asked Me To
3. Dave Alvin - Amanda
4. Norah Jones - Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want To Get Over You)
5. Cowboy Jack Clement - Let's All Help The Cowboys (Sing The Blues)
6. John Doe - Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line
7. Junior Brown - Nashville Rebel
8. Robert Earl - Keen Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way
9. Carlene Carter - I've Always Been Crazy
10. Radney Foster with Roger Creager - Luckenbach, Texas (Back To The Basics Of Love)
11. Allison Moorer - Storms Never Last
12. Kris Kristofferson - I Do Believe
13. Alejandro Escovedo - Lock Stock and Teardrops
14. The Crickets - Waymore's Blues
15. Henry Rollins - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean

The only song I skip over is the last cut.
The rest are all winners, with the Nora Jones cut and the Junior Brown with Lloyd Green cut being my favorites this week.

Funny thing about the Nora Jones cut on"Wurlitzer Prize"...legend has it that Waylon HATED that song and never performed it live-not even once!

I actually have both CD's and Lonesome, Ornery & Mean is by far the better CD.
The two standout cuts are Nora Jones Wurlitzer Prize and Kris Kristofferson I Do Believe....buy it just for those two alone!

Why would I want to get this crap when I have all the originals. Nothing like the real thing. The hell with the late band wagon so-called tributers. Why does a man have to die to gain any respect?Kid Rock now theres a lot of talent, catch on .
