We sure lost a lot of people this year. I was watching on CNN and it was unreal at the good actors we lost this year too.

Add Roy Horton and you have 7 who died from the Country Music Hall of Fame. This includes 2 from the expanded class of 01
Gibson and Phillips plus Carlisle from the class of 02.

2003 was a hard year for musicians and actors.
From Sam Phillips to Mr. Rogers, Buddy Ebsen to Howie Epstein, Warren Zevon to Noel Redding.
One of the great Tele players died, Mr. Paul Burlison and an unusual amount of bass players this year.
Here is a list of Bass Players that left us this year.
Here is a list of some of the actors, singers, and musicians from this year.

a few not mentioned:

jimmie rivers, the wonderful electric guitar player on those memorable recordings with vance terry that vance captured for posterity on his own reel to reel recorder. jimmie died in northern california maybe 6 months ago?

bob pinson: the premier country music historian of them all, longtime fixture at the country music hall of fame. bob and others were purged from the hall of fame in a disgraceful and well publicized "reorganization" 2 or 3 years ago.

also ray harris and andy starr--two legitimate 1950s rockabilly artists and both characters in their own right. harris recorded for sam phillips and later went on to produce hit records on the Hi label in memphis.

Unfortunately the list goes on:

Several top Bluegrass artists also passed away in 2003:

Jim McReynolds (of Jim & Jesse)
Hylo Brown
Buzz Busby

We also lost Bill Carlisle, Mac Odell and Australia's legendary Slim Dusty.

I looked for my name and thank goodness it wasn't there yet. Heaven Can Wait,Or wherever
I'm headed.

Thanks for those sad memories of people we all remember. When each year passes and I hear "Auld Lang Syne" it always chokes me up.

The Happiest New Years I can remember have all gone, but I have memories that are pricless. I take each day as it comes, each day is a bonus.

Have a HEALTHY New Year and try to make it a
Happy One.

Happy New Year.

Jody,
If you can remember them, they have to be gone by. Its the happier ones in front of ya that ya can't remember yet.

Reading that long (too-long) list of those who have gone on, makes me all the more determined to do all that I can, while I can, but; not to worry about the future! Whatever will be, will be, but; I'm working on a new little pesonal musical project that I'd like to finish and share with some of my friends, before I'm finished for good! My health is good, so; tomorrow it's back to the steel-guitar and the recorder for me! I hope 2004 is kind to everyone and me too! “Big John” wknsg®
