I stumbled onto this old CD today at the library.
There must be well over twenty artists doing country standards, backed up by eight steelers, B.Bouton, Stephen Bryan, D.Dugmore,P.Franklin,Jr., S.Garrish, J.Hughey, and L.Maines.
Lots of great steel, guitar, fiddle, it's all there.
If they produced another album along the same lines, I'd snap it up.
I'm guessing this came out around 1998.
Was this a one shot deal?

This might be the one David is talking about: Tribute To Tradition on the Sony label #68073. Go to Amazon.com and do a search under Popular music and you can listen to the cd. It has Randy Travis, Joe Diffie,& others singing standards. I liked Alison Krauss' version of "Three Bells" They also have used versions of cd's. I've bought used cd's on Amazon that have never been opened!

Wayne is correct, Tribute to Tradition on Sony.
Alison Krauss on The Three Bells, nice.
Trace Adkins on I Never Go Around Mirrors.
Joe Diffie on Behind Closed Doors.
Rick Trevino on City Lights.
Patty Loveless on Wine, Women and Song.
The last tune, Same Old Train, was penned by Marty Stuart and features M.Haggard, R.Skaggs, and a host of others and it's great, IMO.

I about wore out that CD. Especially love Travino's "City Lights". Man I wish some of the AJ's, Straits etc. would re-release some of the old standard classics.

I'm sure it wasn't that one b0b, nice selection of tunes though.

Ken, it sounds like Alan Jackson's CD, "Under the Influence" is the one for you if you don't already have it. Wonderful.

I agree 100 percent, but ain't it a shame that we can't hear new music by young artist doing the style of music we're talking about. There is no bigger fan or follower of Jones, Haggard etc. than I am, but IMOP we need young blood in there performing new songs in this style to keep traditional country alive. Doyle
