![]() Does anyone happen to know whatever happened to Charlie Carter? He playe rythym guitar for Tammy Wynette fo years. He was with George Jones before George and Tammy married. He's one of the finest guys I've ever known, and I really miss seeing Charlie aroung the Country Music scene. He was from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but lived in Nashville for a while. Sure would like to get in touch with him if anyone knows where he is. ------------------ |

![]() Hey guys, I talked to Sonny Curtis last night, and he said he thought that Charlie had moved back to Tx,probably around Dallas or Greenville. Maybe someone in that area will know him. Hope this helps. |

![]() It has probably been a year or more since the last time I talked to Charlie. He does indeed live here in Texas. The last I new he was in the Dallas area. Charlie played with my hubby Joe, before he went on the road with the Jones Boys. Smiley, if you will email me I will give you the phone number I had last on him. Peggy |

![]() Guys, I have spoken to Charlie a couple of times in the last few months, and he sounds like he's not interested in going anywhere, or doing anything. I owe him a lot for his always being kind to me when I first started in this MUSIC business. He lives in the Dallas area, and I wouldn't pass his number on to anyone, without first making sure it was ok. I am so busy I don't get online very often, and am restricted timewise when I do. Charlie is a prince of a guy, but frankly, I'm a little worried about him. he is becoming a recluse. I 've tried to get him to come listen to some of the bands I play in, and I have even begged him to come sit in if he wants, and he says he don't go ANYWHERE. I know he misses Tammy. I pray that he'll be O.K. |

![]() Chuck, Thanks for the info on Charlie. He's one of the best persons I've known since in the music bus. Please tell him hello for me, and that we here on the forum are thinking about him. ------------------ |

![]() Well, I searched found this post from way back. I was too a friend and admirer of Charlie. I'm pretty sure this is Charlie with George Jones on the Porter Wagoner Show circa 60s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98VcIpjxOcc [This message was edited by Terry Downs on 12 April 2006 at 09:00 PM.] |

![]() Terry. What a Video! Thanks for sharing. Yes, that is indeed Charlie Carter on his old white Telecaster. Notice it has a rosewood neck. Sometime after this was shot, an Airline company ran over that guitar, case and all, and ended up buying him a brand new 1968 white Tele, but it had a maple neck. I spoke to Charlie a couple weeks ago, and it seems his spirits have lifted some. He was much more up-beat, and even talked about coming out to hear me sometime. Charlie Carter is one fine example of what a professional Musician is all about. I've never heard one bad thing about him, from anyone. Note: That's James Holly on Bass, and singing harmony with George. Freddy Haws on Drums, and I think that's Sonny Curtis on Steel. I didn't see a fiddle player with them, but I believe Charlie Justice played with them. Thanks everyone for thinking so much of a great talent, and friend. |

![]() Thanks for the reply Chuck. Charlie may not remember me, but I sure remember him. Also, thanks for identifying the band members. ------------------ |

![]() What a coinsidence! Sunday morning I watched Porter Wagoner on RFD, and George and the Jones Boys, did two songs. The first was "Walk Through This World With Me" and Charlie Carter kicked it off on that white (1963)Telecaster, then later in the show, They played "The Race Is On" (The same video posted by Terry Downs in this thread) and they featured charlie again playing the ride. Interesting side note: Wayne Milligan told me the story on the White Telecaster with the Rosewood neck. He (Wayne) got it in 1963 and it was sold to Charlie in 1965. Wayne plays bass with us at the Stagecoach Ballroom in Ft. Wth on Sundays. I'll be sure to speak to Charlie in a day or two. He would be surprised to know many folks are interested in him, and his well being. God Bless Charlie Carter, and folks like him. |
