![]() Who cares about Garth Gaines,Chris Brooks or whatever his handle is.....he is a "has been" .always "has been"..... and always will be.....I wont support his lifestyle, and decisions, financially or morally, thats for sure..... |

![]() To postulate Garth as the savior of country is interesting, but perhaps ignores the fact that Garth will go where the money is, and apparently that isn't in the real country genre. He'd be good for 1 or 2 real country albums, at best, just like the first time. Then we'd get "roped" back into the trapeze acts and guitar smashing concerts. In fairness to old Garth, my guess is that he gave a lot more guitars to kids than he smashed on stage. Still, I didn't appreciate that either; nor the display of one of his smashed guitars in the Country Music HoF. ------------------ |

![]() Chart Beat (Billboard) October 13, 2005 LOUDER THAN 'THUNDER': Garth Brooks breaks his own record for the highest debut on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart since it was first compiled from airplay data supplied by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems in 1991. Brooks has held the record for just over 14 years. His eighth chart entry, "The Thunder Rolls," crashed onto the chart at No. 19 the week of May 18, 1991. No song has debuted higher until this week. Brooks makes his first appearance on this chart since June 2003 with his 76th chart entry, "Good Ride Cowboy" (Pearl), new at No. 18. That incredible debut appears to tie the previous highest debut on the country chart. The week of Dec. 23, 1978, Eddie Rabbitt opened at No. 18 with the title song from the Clint Eastwood flick, "Every Which Way But Loose." On the Hot 100, "Good Ride Cowboy" is only the sixth chart entry for Brooks, and his first since "Wrapped Up in You" peaked at No. 46 in December 2001. "Cowboy" is new at No. 93 |

![]() Doesn't have respect from his peers? Wow what a statement.Since when is an out of work barroom sideman a peer? Just sitting here wondering how many of his peers ever drew a crowd of almost a million or a phenominal TV audience as did his central park concert. There is a big difference between respect and Jealousy. I may not care for all the music he has done but I have to respect where he went and certainly what he accomplished with his music. Some people in this business have higher goals than others. It will be hard for anyone to set higher or achieve the same goals, not that it won't be done,It will just be very hard.I could care less whether he came back or not but regardless it will be hard for him even to top his first effort.SSTFU... ![]() ------------------ |

quote: Well, you got a point there retro. I know Merle would have never drew that kinda crowd! There's someone I respect for "where he went and what he accomplished with his music" But then in his prime time he wasn't playing to a bunch of clueless idiots that buy anything the record company tells them is the latest greatest. Nor did he have a traveling circus act with smoke and mirrows, swinging on ropes.
quote: Sho is, lots of folks be jealous of someone with his limited talent making that kind of money. Just goes to show Nashville can make a star out of a monkey. Altho, he's not the worst performer I've seen or heard. Kenny Chesney is! Yes Garth is rich and successful in todays music industry. Maybe he'll go down in some book of world records as making more money and drawing a bigger crowd than anyone in music history! Altho its a pity he'll never be known for penning or recording what's known as "a standard"...SSTFU<--- whatever cyber talk that means. ![]() Was this thread really necessary? Robbie Bossert |
Brett Anderson Member From: Arizona, USA |
![]() Not sure it was necessary but it is amusing. Someone mentioned Eddie Rabbitt. Thers a guy I will always miss. Truly a talent. I heard the new Garth song for the first time today and I must say as Garth songs go this is definitely another one. Where are the tribute songs to the guys who have passed away that could sing? It may be jealousy regarding Girth because I sing better than he does. |

![]() Donny ,It's for sure he is worth millions,so was Al Copone.I have never been able to understand how he became a household name instead of people like Gene Watson or Dale Watson. It's a damn shame he has the money, and they have the talent.Trying to imitate Van Halen,Kiss,or A.C.D.C. dont make him country. And if he only smashed one guitar, thats one to many,I dont care if it's a thirteen dollar stella. It's a strong probability he's responsible for the crap out there today. These clowns today that feature over driven guitar, twirling mikestands[maybe thats better than singing into it]and incorporating rap in their MU-SICK,and being billed as country, now that is ludicrous and sick.We need Randy Travis to make a comeback, not Mr.Yearwood. |

![]() I want to jump on the bandwagon too and voice my disgust for Garth Brooks. I never cared for his singing nor his style of "country". His smashing guitars just makes me sick at my stomach, especially since there are so many people who would love to have a guitar who cannot afford to but one, and he is up there smashing them. And that is considered entertainment. I hate the song "Friends In Low Places" but the song he put out "The Dance" has some great words. I am sure he did not write the song but he was a "big name emtertainer" and I guess that is how the song was given to him. |

![]() I would be one of the first to holler if this guy is inducted into the Country Music H.O.F. And I really don't care for anyone breaking Guitars or imitating an over weight Tarzan sliding down a rope in a Forest Fire. But who amongst us would not accept the success he has had if it came our way? After all whats a Family worth? (I'm sure Garths ex has come up with a good figure). Country music did turn a page with Garth but for the good? Not for the likes of me,but for a lot of out of work Rockers who have now entered Nashburg and are stinking up the joint. But the Dirty Tee shirt business has grown and Manuel needs another Porter to come along. But not one cent has it cost ole Garth except fer Alimony).Judgeng from the round of applause he recieved for his little Opry stint last week he must have changed that audience too. What a dedicated Opry star he has been. He shows up when the spotlight is bright but ole Porter looked in better shape.Shows what an Idiot thats in charge of the Opry..The sooner Garth makes his comeback, the sooner we can see if he has any real talent. Even todays teeny boppers don't go for the Pillsbury doughboy. Jimmy Hall I know what SSTFU means. But I said my piece anyway old buddy.SKMA ![]() ------------------ |
