In another thread, Barbie Benton (the 60s & 70s Playboy Playmate) was mentioned. Last fall she came into my shop a couple of times and made some nice purchases of trimmings.

I was not waiting on her, but I went up to her and said, "You're Barbie Benton! I recognize you. You were my favorite.........country singer. I don't think she realized that I was teasing her.

Anyhow, after her Playboy carear, she became, or attempted to become a country singer.

Does anyone have any info or stories with regard to her?

I remember her being a Hee-Haw regular so she may have sang on the show. On Sneaky Pete's website, it indicates that he recorded with her. http://www.sneakypetekleinow.com/

I think I have copies of her LPs still buried in my storage facility. If I find them in the summer "dig" do you want them?

Michael, I would take you up on your offer and I would make a donation to the forum by doing so. Thank you. Very kind.

Who cares whether she could sing or not! I woulda told her the same thing, just to talk to her. I met her in Las Vegas,in '72,at the casino that we were playin' at. (Hacienda Hotel, now gone.) Couldn't believe that it was her. She was very friendly,

I spoke with her briefly. She's producing a handbag line (thus the trimmings), married, has two kids, lives in Colorado (Aspen I believe), studied and sings opera.

I assume that she is a decent singer if she sings opera.....or maybe that was Opry....

If Barbie Benton was singing on Hee Haw, I never knew it, I was suffering from sensory overload that precluded my my ears... Optics at 100%, auditory at 0%.
Heff had all the luck...
I do remember one of her lines though, something like;
"We don't go around repeatin' gossip, so you'd better get it right the first time...".

Some trivia...her big hit record, "Brass Buckles", featured our old buddy Stu Basore!

Still does. If I could go through life and love in a robe 24/7, I wouldn't be posting here.....

As Hag once said about a girl singer, I like the way she stands.

It's been a long time, and I don't remember who it was, but I knew someone who played in her band. What I do remember is him telling me that at rehearsals the band would run the tunes while she did her exercises.

And not the vocal kind, either...

If she was fronting a band, it brings to mind one of waylon's famous lines -
Wasting my life in a 5 piece band, Staring at the back side of me!!!

John Bidasio and Mark Patterson played in her band. They used to rehearse at Playboy mansion, with lots of naked girls running around. Sounds OK, if you like that sort of thing.

I remember Barbie Benton as being a very pretty lady. I sure did not know she was a singer. About the only thing we have in common is we share January 28th birthdays.
