Many of you may remember the group "Toby Beau", from the mid to late 1970's. They recorded a few albums, but their only real big hit was "My Angel Baby". My old friend, Danny McKenna, who was a founder of the group and wrote "My Angel Baby" shot himself this week. He was the most talented guitarist I have ever worked with over the past 3 decades. He was also a wonderful luthier. Here is a link to his obituary. At the end of the story there is a link you can click to hear "My Angel Baby". It might jog your memory.

RIP Danny

I'm not very familar with "Toby Beau" but I am very familar with "Angel Baby" as it is one of the songs we perform every night we play. Great tune. I surely send my condolences to his family and friends.

Rest Well Danny

So sorry you lost your friend Lee, who can know the anguish someone goes through to do such a thing. I think it lurks in the minds of many of us. What a fine talent, the guitar clips are really pretty.

The funeral was this morning. It was huge. Lot's of folks from out of town came in to attend.

I grieve for his two kids, both in college. Like his daughter said, he was sick of being sick.

Lee, I am sorry about your friend.
May he rest in peace.

I do also understand about bad allergies.
One of the reasons I left the N.E. USA was
pollen that would wipe me out every spring.

Seriously useless some days. Like mixing a band
with a dripping cloth covering my face,
only lifted to check a setting,
and then not if it could be avoided.
Braile soundcraft.

I did find places it wasn't as mind-breakingly bothersome,
but nowhere near " home"; like France or Thailand...
Go Figure.

So I do understand Dan's pain
at having life deranged by his environment.
It's a shame to lose a good man for this.

I remember My Angel Baby, nice song.

Sorry to hear of your friend's suicide. To be that despondent over health issues is too much for most people to understand.

I used the link you provided and was delighted to hear "My Angel Baby," which I probably hadn't heard in 30 years or so.

May Danny McKenna's soul finally find the peace and health he was denied in this world, and may his family be granted the strength to continue on.
