Faron Young to me did a fabulous job with a country ballad. He is still one of my favorite singers. We have a legends station in Houston that plays just the 60-80's stuff. I notice they very rarely play Faron. I know that Faron was somewhat controversial I remember some things that he did that were anti-social. But that aside I was wondering if some of his antics soured him with those who choose what will be played. oh well maybe i am getting paranoid. Just wondering.

Wine Me Up!

I like some Faron Young.

call your station up and request it--esp if they play country music from the 60s-80s.

I guess I don't know why they wouldn't play his material - I loved to hear him sing - even though we played a show with him once and he showed up drunk, which didn't impress me very much - I don't think it was the only time and probably not the only one that has done the same

Faron Young had some great tunes, when I say great tunes I mean Steel Guitar Friendly tunes. Almost everything Faron did had steel on it. He may have been controversial, but there are several out there who were and still are. I'd call em up and ask the DJ then request some Faron.

Faron Young was a true professional when it come to his music. Ask anyone who ever played behind him. Perhaps one needs to walk in his shoes before they criticize him for his ending.

Well, if you're directing your comment at me, it's simply the truth. No criticism whatsover from me, and unless you've walked in my shoes, any pointed my direction is pretty silly.

I don't know what I'd do if I had a terminal miserable disease. Many of my friends punched their own tickets. Some of them had pretty good reasons from what I witnessed.

I like to think I'd shoot somebody else. I don't know.

Faron sure put on some good shows and had some great music.

It's easy to say I would never top myself,
just wait for the morphine drip to end it all.

Somethings are pretty darned bad to go through,
with only the same end in sight...

If Faron went out a month earlier,
but standing straight till the end,
I suspect he felt better that way.

Again unless we are in his shoes,
we can't judge. Only God can judge later,
if at THAT moment,
it was the right or wrong choice.

So society logicaly opts for "never"
as the prefered logic.
Weeds out depresives and mis-diagnosis mistakes etc.

I would like to hear Faron from time to time.
But he just never gets radio play here...

I heard a great Faron story, that I can't repeat here!
But I'd have to say that being dead would hinder one's performance, and thus earning, potential. Unless you're Elvis...

XM Radio plays quite a bit of Farons songs. That's about all I'll add to this post.

Well, you can't play what you don't have.

Which is another way of saying that usually indicates that station personnel have "relocated" his records to their personal collections.

(Yes, most DJ's have outstanding personal record collections.)

He is played all the time on XM Satellite Radio. Another reason I got it. I love Faron's singing.

Faron was very loyal to his friends and musicians. I lost a fairly expenses ring on his bus, and several months later, he found it and got it back to me. Faron will always be one of my favorites. Jody.
