Hey Mike,
Come on out to Hank's tonight and say hello.
I play steel with piles of bands here. There is quite a bit more going on than what is in that article. The picture is the back room at Sunny's. There is an amazing western swing band playing there every weds. Smokey Hormel runs it.

Doyle,
NYC is nothing like anywhere else ! The live music scene is exciting and filled with great players. In Columbia City do you have your choice of around a hundred bars and clubs with the best musicians in the world playing every night of the week ? The steel players I know around here that can play a little and have open minds are turning down gigs because they don't have the time. The problem here is cost of life. It is a very expensive place.

Bob, I'd love to and do plan on coming possibly the next time you are there. I have other plans with my girlfriend for tonight, and unfortunately cant make it, but promise to try and come hear you soon. I havent been to Brooklyn in a while, and miss it. Lots of good stuff happening there. I had a steady Friday night gig there for a year with my guitar organ jazz trio at a place called Downtown Atlantic on Atlantic avenue.

I'll be playing with a boatload of other bands at the Third Annual Country Music Festival on September 9th. It is at Southpaw in Park Slope. I know that there is at least one other steel player in the mix.
