No--this is not a 420 request. This is just one of those songs that I never really knew (was too busy picking out seeds & stems maybe). Its on a setlist I'm cramming on for a Rodeo Bar show this week and although I have the chart, I just don't have the song in my head.
Can anyone send me even a low-res mp3? I'd sure appreciate it.

"Well, my dawg died yesterday
And left me all alone
The finance comp'ny just called
And took away my home

But that's just a drop in the bucket
Compared to losin' you
And I'm down to seeds and stems again too."

Yeah--it's like they know me & my life.

Nevermind the request---I found it online. Got it covered.

But goodgodalmighty, I'm depressed.

Don't have the MP3, but the inro is V-IV-I, verse is I-III-IV-I, repeat, VI-V-IV-I_V-IV-I. Bridge: IV-I-IV-I-IV-I-VI-II-V. Hope this helps. Substitue regular numbers for Roman, and if you don't know the number system, well...you're on your own

Yeah, if you substitute regular numbers for the roman numerals, it plays really well!

Down to Seeds and Stems Again
Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen

INTRO: chords to last verse line, twice (G F C G F C)

C E F C
I'm sittin alone, Saturday night, watching the Late Late Show.
C E F C
A bottle of wine, some cigarettes, I got no place to go.
A G F C
Well, I saw your other man today; he was wearing my brand new shoes,
G F C
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.

Well, I met my old friend Bob today from up in Bowling Green;
He had the prettiest little gal that I'd ever seen.
But I couldn't hide my tears at all, cause she looked just like you,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.

CHORUS:
F C F C
Now everybody tells me there's other ways to get high.
F C A D G
They don't seem to understand I'm too far gone to try.
C E F C
Now these lonely memories, they're all I can't lose,
G F C
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.

[Ride over verse, guitar/steel]

[first line spoken, not sung]
Well my dog died just yesterday and left me all alone.
The finance company dropped by today and repossessed my home.
That's just a drop in the bucket compared to losing you,
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too.

TAG: G F C
Got the Down to Seeds and Stems again Blues.

Sorry the chords all ended up on the left when I pasted...but you get the idea.

Thanks for the help. As I said, I already had the chart and now I've also got the sound clip. Heading to the store for the Bambu & I'm all set.

Didn't Bobby Black play on the original recording?

If the recording I just listened to is the original then I think not. I'm looking for the right way to say this but let's just say that it's not quite what I would expect from him.
Would this be the mysterious Virginia Creeper?

---I believe the album is "Lost In The Ozone".

I think it was Ernie Hagar guys. The West Virginia Creeper, I think, only played on CCATLPA's first LP.

I have two live versions with Bobby playing. The first `Live At The Armadillo` is much more manic than the sweet and tasteful playing on the `We Got A Live One Here` album just three years later.

The disc I have credits West Viginia Creeper as pedal steel. It's 1971, MCA Records.

OK, Trivia Question: What is the West Virginia Creeper's real name, and where the heck is he now?

I think Don Bolton. Not sure what they're doing these days. Bobby Black plays steel with them locally around the Bay area I hear, but Cody doesn't use a steeler for the shows too far away from home...at least he hasn't used one the times I've seen him up here in Portland.

Jimbeaux - I'll take you up on the first half of your trivia question... Steve Davis. (?) As to where he is now, I have no idea.

Don E.Curtis plays with Cody around St. Louis. Mark Emerick is his pretty awesome guitar player, it is a great live show if you get the chance. JP

Bauer is correct. WVACreeper's real name is Steve Davis. He's also an excellent player of classical guitar. Or was, anyway. I'm sure his steel playing has improved from that era, if he stayed with it.
