What a voice. Just bought her greatest hits CD. I love the way she pronounces the word "talk" in the tune "You've got to talk to me"... (sounds like she is saying "towke to me...")
Great bunch of PF's work all in one place. Thanks for the sweet sounds Paul!

I am in total LOVE with this woman.

She has put out very "pop" sounding product but she really nails it when she does traditional country.

Check out her version of "Someone I Used to Know" (the Porter and Dolly hit)...

Her voice lends itself to Dolly and Tammy Wynette.

She has lots of great tunes showcasing Paul Franklin Jr.

and she looks soooo good!

I would love to play on her show..I could listen to those tunes over and over every night...no problem.

Does Leann still carry a pedal steel player with her on the road? Somebody said once she didn't use a steel player on the road anymore. Most of her songs "cry" for a pedal steel. Wonder how many more "artists"(?) have decided not to take pedal steel on the road with them, or even use it in their sessions. It's starting to get scary.

Dan Galysh is with LeeAnn these days, along with my favorite fiddle player Hank Singer. I spent some time with them last month when they played Red Rocks. Dan sounded great--he was playing with a Revalation pre into the power amp ins of 2 Nashville 112's. Great show!

Thanks John for the nice words.
You know......Lee Ann's voice drives, but she can be as sweet, laid back and as subtle as can be, too.
She once told me her favorite steel solo was on an old George Jones song, the name of which escapes me at the moment, wish I could remember. I believe she has a genuine appreciation for our instument.
I think "Hankenstein" is about my favorite too, John...

Rusty Danmeyer told me` that before Lee Ann Womack found a new steel player, he would play for her some when he wasn't on tour with LeAnn Rimes. Now, Dan Galysh is playing for Lee Ann, playing his Carter, so it is great to see the steel back in Lee Ann's band called "911". Brett, The song is Once You've Had The Best and it is the intro to the song that is her favorite.

It seems that I recall reading before that Alan Jackson also named the steel intro on "once you've had the best" by George Jones as being his favorite too.

Anybody know who played that intro on George's recording? Was it Pete D.?

Lem,it was Pete...I know a hundred musicians, singers, songwriters who always cite that intro as a favorite...and the song was written by Johnny Paycheck,if I remember correctly.

Thanks Steve. It sounded like Pete to me, but I didn't know for sure. It is certainly a classic intro no doubt.

So can I assume by the posts that her newest CD has lots of real country and steel on it?

Ken,

You are correct. Paul plays dome great steel on this one.

Also, the production is fantastic. Brent Mason provides some fantastic guitar sounds here too.

Tremelo chrords, Tic-Tac, gut string doubles, etc...

All in alkl a very well produced project.

Did anyone see Leeann sing, "These Days I Barely Get By" with the two friends she used to sing with at the George Jones birthday bash a year or so ago? It was held at the Ryman and all these country artists paid tribute to Jones on his birthday. Leeann's version of "These Days" still gives me goose bumps and you can tell by the audience's reaction to it that she nailed it 100% great.
What a talent. Of course Alan Jackson did a great version of "He Stopped Loving Her Today" with some neat steel licks by Robbie Flint. Glad I videoed that.
