Jeff,I just got a BBE Sonic Maximizer for my rack and since my rig is similar to yours I was wondering if you would share your "Lo Contour" and "Process" settings. If anyone else would care to share their settings or their experiences in finding the best settings, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Tony

In my rack of Profex II, DPC 750 amp and Sonic Maximizer, the Lo is usually around 5 or 6, and the Hi somewhere around 5 to 7, depending on where I'm playing. Seems like kind of a Mooney sound when you turn up the Hi. I am using PV Nashville 112E BW speakers, and playing my Zum U12. Don't be afraid to turn the knobs !

Boy, it really depends on the rest of your rig. I usually run my bass setting at about 1 o'clock, and the other at about 3 o'clock. I usually run 2 -15" cabs on tour. Smaller set ups I run 2 - 12" cabs and run the controls at 3 o'clock and 12 o'clock. I run a modular set up with separate preamp, effects, and power amp. Tour is, Peavey VMP-2(stereo tube preamp) into TubeFex(FX in/out) into PodPro into BBE into DPC-1400. Small club/pickup/fly date is Demeter 3 channel tube preamp into Yamaha SPX-1000 into POD into BBE into DPC-1000+2X12's or Nashville 1000. Recording(master), is all the above, plus 2 Demeter tube direct boxes. My club/demo rig used to include a TubeFex, but I sent it in to get worked on a while back, and it has yet to return.....hence the Yamaha. No fault to Peavey, these things happen. By the way, the speaker cabs are 2 tweed open for the 15's, 2 1X12E's on the other....great sounding stuff. You need to consider everything you run through when you use an exciter.....any resistance, even in your volume pedal, cable length and choice of make, and every piece of gear you have will affect your settings. Trial and error, lots of listening will place your settings for you. It will definitely change your direct /mic signal, so pay attention to your FOH and Monitor engineers. Good luck, hope I could help ya'. |

I used to use a BBE when I used a rack setup, and I used it as the overall EQ for the room (leaving the EQ as is for the individual processor settings). So if I needed some sparkle, I would add some BBE process, if I needed bottom end, I would add some low end gain. So for me, it was all over the map....
