I recently tweaked some patches and added some new ones to my 2112's, and decided I should probably change the memory batteries. I have had one of these units about 4 years and the other about 2 years, and both were used when I bought them. The units take a 3 volt lithium battery, Energizer CR2032 (or equivalent), like a computer, and is in a holder, not soldered. I removed the cover, powered the unit up, popped out the old battery WITH A PLASTIC PROBE, and slid the new one into the holder with the same probe. The battery holder is right next to the fuse holder with the AC connections open, so I didn't want to get my fingers too close. I shut it off, then turned it back on and all my programs were still there. I checked the voltage of the old batteries and both were still 3 volts, so I have no idea how long these will last. ------------------ Darvin Willhoite Riva Ridge Recording

Darvin ,Thanks !!! I am approaching that time with my Digitech effects and Stereo Steel Combo when a battery install will be necessary in the Digitech . Gerry Walker told me to do the same thing as you outlined ! " Power up the unit"-- but since I had never "been there , done that " I was a little nervous about the change . I am printing out your post for later reference and I was especially interested in your statment about using a plastic instrument to remove the old battery . I am glad to hear that the programs will be "save safe" from someone who has "been there -done that " --removing and installing a new battery . Regards, John |

Good post Darvin, I waited too long and lost all my programs on my 2101. Several years of tweeking down the drain. The battery was about 7 years old. I didn't know about powering up the unit to save old programs, and I was too lazy to write down all the parameters. Live and learn. Pat | |
