For some time I've attemped to have Webb Amps repair my '79 Webb. Bottomline, it appears they are in a wind down mode and I would like to know if there is anyone who repairs them with the same componets as origianl. Thanks.

Talk to Danny Hullihan at Harrison Music in Michigan. He knows someone in Florida. He is listed in the links section under vendors.

Hi Kevin: Thanks for the suggetsion to use Savage Audio. When I lived in MPLS a few years ago that's who I had 'repair' my Webb. I still have the original invoice that I notified Jim Webb what Savage Audio did to try and see if I could send the amp head to his repairman. However, it still hisses etc after Savage Audio repaired it and by hitting it on the side it stops being noisy etc, but is not sounding like it did all those years from 1979. Please, note that I think Savage Audio is one of the finest amp builders and repair companies anywhere and would use them again for tube amps which is there specialty. It's just that my Webb is still not working correctly after their work. PS I hope Neil is enjoying the Black Super Pro! Keep in touch Kevin.

Hi Mike: I simply meant that after calling and emailing Webb Amps multiple times regarding when I could get my Webb repaired, it was always wait until...and I have not heard back from them after over a year sending an information form back to them. I called again in late November and they asked if I could call back sometime after January as I believe his repairman would be available then or something. Let me state that Mr. Webb is a terrific gentleman and a delight to talk with. The Webb amp is still my favoite regular steel amp by far (I've had them all). Mr. Webb built an amp that was ahead of its time in my opinion. It's simply I'm anxious after 1 1/2 years to get it repaired somewhere that would repair it with the same quality of parts as to not lose the original tone! Again, the Webb Amp is one of the finest ever and I'm goin to try another time this week to see if Webb Amps can repair it. If not, I'll just put the amp in the closet until someone can repair it back to the original sound. You'll love your new Webb!!

Any competent electronics shop can fix the Webb. . . the only "trick" is that Webb used top notch parts when he built the amp . . . that means Sprague capacitors, Ohmite resistors, RCA semiconductors, etc. Simply using good parts will preserve the Webb sound.

your "hiss" sounds like a coupling cap or a low capacity bypass cap.

I've got schematics on the 6-14-E. (I keep one in the back of the amp.) Mine's about a 78 model. Lemme know if you need a copy.

Does anyone know where I can get a .3334
capacitor for the Webb 614-E?
Thanks,
Jerry

I've got 6-14e trouble too. Mine's a '95. Something went goofy after playing my electric/accoustic with passive/active pickup. plugged into the LO impute. There was bit of struggle controlling feed back of bass strings. Symptoms: Loss of volume/gain, loss of bottom end/bass response...resulting in a very boxy midrange effect...almost like playing through a wha-wha with pedal set somewhere in the middle. Not as "clean" either. Could the accoustic guitar feedback fried something in the Webb eq cirquitry? Any clues? Sure hope something turns up for this Webb amp repair predicament. Great amps.
