I recently purchased a Peavey Bandit 75. I wanted it for gigs in smaller areas, and thought it would be easier on the back than my Vegas 4oo or Sessions 400. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound it delivers with my Carter and the TPPP pickup. I wonder if anyone else has tried this, and what you think of this little amp’s performance with steel. |

I have been using a Peavey Studio Pro for smaller venues, and it does just fine. It won't get THE sound, but it doesn't weigh much either. |

I've been using a Bandit 112 (80W/ 12" spk) along with a Boss Rv-3 and it sounds good to me. I have considered getting a 2nd one and running them as a two amp set-up.
The best part is it weighs less that my pack-a-seat full of junk! LOL

I have A-B'd my Peavey Bandit with my Peavey LTD with a JBL and here is my impression.Although the LTD had a slightly better tone and more clean power. I didn't think, in my case, it was worth the difference(costwise and weightwise).
So I kept the Bandit and Sold the LTD (a great amp) usable for larger venues...al  [This message was edited by Al Marcus on 04 December 2002 at 11:54 AM.] |

I have one and like it quite a bit. It sounds best using the Profex II into the pre in jack on the back. A nice amp, and they can usually be found at a very nice price. |

I am now using my old Peavy Bandit 112. 80 watts with a 12" Scorpion speaker. Sounds pretty good with my Digitech processor.------------------

I've wondered about this myself. Is this amp good for E9th,and C6th both,or just E9th? With the 12" Scorpion speaker,I would think it would handle the whole steel tonal spectrum pretty good. |

My Carter is a U-12. It sounds good using the B6 part of the tuning. |

I think I tried out two Peavey Bandits in my lifetime (with six string electric, not PSG). The first one was a 1980s model with a Scorpion speaker, and it had the 'saturation' distortion. Yuck. The second one was a 1990s 'Transtube' series model with a Sheffield speaker. It sounded much better. It had a 'thrash' switch on it, and before I hit it I assumed I was going to get some buzzy distortion. Not at all. The amp sounded richer in 'thrash' mode. I wonder how it would sound with PSG? |

Leslie, forget the distortion, like you said, it's bad. The clean channel sounds fine to me, you can get very loud, and still get a good sound. |

I replaced the sheffield (8 ohm) with a blackwidow(4 ohm)which made it a 100 watt amp
but you can't use the ext. speaker now. It also added some weight to the amp.Has anyone tried using
a extension speaker? another sheffield maybe?

I use a bandit 75 with my nashville 400 a Pro Fex II and a goodrich 7-A super sastain match box and I'll blast you right out of your seat. Man what a great sound.I'm waiting for the day I see alot of smoke come out of one of them.

Hey Tony, which Bandit model do you have? 65,75,Transtube? I'd like to try one,but with the scorpion speaker. I think it would carry steel better than the sheffield. |

Samuel, how do you connect the amps to the Profex? Do you go through the regular input, or loop it using the jacks on the back? I'd like to try your setup with my Bandit and my Vegas 400. |

I have been playing thru a Hilton volume into a Pro-Flex 2 to a Bandit 112 with Sheffield speaker and a Ranger 212 (tube)and get a good sound.I go in the front of my amp,s.==Jim Harper |

I've never thought Peavey guitar amps deserved the bad rap they routinely get. My first steel amp was a Peavey Classic 212; before I got my first Session 400, I used a Special 130 paired with a Bandit, both amps from the 80's. For the last year, I've been using an amp I threw together from parts during a 3-day R&R from some almost non-stop touring...looking around at the stuff on hand, I saw a cabinet from an Emmons LeGrande amp, the brain of an old Peavey Special 130, and a 15" JBL Speaker. I threw them all together and hit the road, and I've been using it ever since. When the JBL died of screwdriver-inflicted wounds, I replaced it with a 15" BW, which to my ear sounds better (in this context) and is about as road-proof as a speaker gets. Just my $.02 worth... ------------------
