I am trying to get some info from Seymour Duncan. They list thesae pickups as Stringmaster replacements:11034-41 & -42 Front Side and Rear-Side Pickup for StringmasterŽ Are these for 6,8,10,or 12 strings? How do they sound? |

Hi Paul If I read this correctly by saying "recreated to fit in your old classic" it IMPLIES 8 string, as the Stringmaster was an 8 string guitar. The other reference to "These pickups were pulled out of many lap steels and converted into lead pickups for TeleŽ. : MUST refer to a 6 string pick-up.(I don't recal an 8 string TeleŽ.) quote: 11034-41 & -42 Front Side and Rear-Side Pickup for StringmasterŽ Originally developed for Johnny Farina of "Santo & Johnny," the pickup for StringmasterŽ is wound for that distinct lap steel sound. The front-side position is wound "top going" and North polarity. The rear-side position is wound "top coming" and South polarity. When used in combination with each other the pickups will be humbucking. Both pickups have the traditional pole spacing. The magnets are protruding from the top and bottom of the flatwork for a smooth even response. Each pickup is recreated to fit in your old classic and comes with schematic and mounting screws. Hookup wire is the classic "push back" cloth braid wire. 11034-45 1950 Lap Steel (Single Coil) These pickups were pulled out of many lap steels and converted into lead pickups for TeleŽ. The pickups have a rectangular vulcanized bottom plate and mounted into the body of the instrument using two wood screws. Each bobbin is fabricated and specially hand-wound using vintage techniques. The bobbins are protected by waxed string for added coil protection. Hookup wire is the classic "push back" cloth braid wire.

Looking at the length dimensions(~.45" longer) versus the 6-string lap steel pickup on the Duncan website, I would pretty strongly assume that the Stringmaster Antiquity is an 8-string pickup. |

Okay, that is good info. Thanks everyone. As I look at my Deluxe 6, the pickup measurements are identical to my Stratocaster pickups. When the need necessitates (if the original pickups fail) I have a plethora of Strat pickups to choose from. |
