I've read a bit on how the 15" BW evolved from it's early version with the spiderweb magnet to the modern, high power superstructure and 1501-4 basket. But, can anyone compare the sonic differences? What do people think of the old spider web model with regards to tone as compared to a brand new 1501-4?

Brad,
I've had them all and sold or traded all of my Spider web speakers because they quit making baskets for them. I preferred the newer Super Structure model anyway and it seemed to have more highs and a bigger bite. I use a pair of the new 1501-4 SW speakers in my Evans amps and have a pair of the older Super Structures in my Peavey Session 400 amps. (75 and 76 model years) The new 1501-4 SW seems to suit the Evans amp better to me. The Evans have more highs and were too bright with the older speakers. I think the older BW's (not the spider webs) have a brighter-bigger bite type of tone quality that's tailor made for the old Session 400's. A lot of them were made with these speakers.
