Maybe I missed it but has anyone found a suitable replacement for the Clarostat pots? I've heard that George L won't give a warranty on new ones because so many are turning out bad. |

Hey Frank, maybe Peavey or Fender or some other amp co. has something that might work.Or how hard would they be to build? I'm sure ther's guy's right here on the forum who could build them. |

Being new to the forum and not wanting to butt in, I have recently undertaken the job of restoring an old Emmons S-10. Both pots were missing and my local music shop hooked me up with Fender pots for both tone and volumn. They work great and were less than ten bucks. Heck the soldering iron cost more. |

At the risk of swingin' a baseball bat at a hornet's net, I've been using the Clarostat linear-taper version with very good results. More than a couple years of constant use out of 'em. They're a heck of a lot cheaper than the analog taper pots, too. Somewhere in the distant past I posted my research on these pots. I'll look for it and add the URL to this entry. Here 'tis: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum11/HTML/000276.html Keep on pickin'! JA1N200P504AA is all I use. There has also been talk about the Ohmite version of this pot CA-5041 being acceptable. What I can't understand is why no one has developed a pot pedal that will mechanically reproduce the log (audio taper) effect when a linear taper pot is used. This would be the best of both worlds...inexpensive pots and the "action" we've all grown accustomed to, in a pedal that is also inexpensive. |

Donny, you're a genius. It's gotta be doable with some kind of cam/roller or something. Get to work on it, somebody. Excellent idea.------------------ Brad Sarno Blue Jade Audio Mastering St. Louis |
